yes it is,if you had one too are you on anitcoaglants, if so this should not have happened or take a slow asprin fron gp ( the ones them whos had heart attack take, dont need blood tests every week with them

sorry about spellings

Kelly1978 · 21/03/2006 11:34

you really should be able to do it yorself - lay it on about how hard it is with the kids. I was told I could do them myself when pg with the dts.

Elibean · 21/03/2006 11:45

OMG, Spacey - been awol for a week or two, didnt' know you were tackling a new hurdle: am so sorry! Hope it resolves soon...anything we can do to help?

And why won't they let you inject Clexane yourself? (I had to whilst pg with dd, due to history of m/c - and I'm not a nurse)
Hope you got help last night..xxx

Nemo1977 · 21/03/2006 11:48

god hun what a nightmare for youSad

claire7676 · 21/03/2006 12:01

Hi, I take clexane daily and inject myself, through this pregnancy and my previous pregnancy. (Had PEs previously) Some hospitals are reluctant to let you self inject but with ure background as a nurse I'd have thought you have a good case to argue? I'd be quite forceful if I were you! Good luck x

spacecadet · 21/03/2006 14:18

well i think i will argue to let them inject myself when i go back this evening and see what they say.
i do take asprin, my gp prescribed it for me, so in theory it shouldnt have happened but i suspect that now i will be on anti- coagulants for life.

OH SC - so much stuff to cope with. I hope someone can babysit for you this evening. Have you had any relief yet from the pain in our leg?
Enormous hugs to you.

amynnixmum · 21/03/2006 14:52

Poor you Sad There's a new product on the market that is supposed to help with blood clotting issues like dvt. Its called SIRCO and is a juice drink - I'll try and dig the scientific info on it out later and post a link. AFAIK its designed to prevent things like DVT but I would imagine that it would also help get rid of an existing problem. Only trouble with SIRCO is its not widely available yet but you can get it in larger Sainsburys and Waitrose stores.

Merlin · 21/03/2006 17:15

Just saw this SC - god you're having a tough time aren't you? Hope you can persuade the hospital to let you do the injections rahter than dragging the kids out again. Take care and get better soon.

spacecadet · 21/03/2006 18:15

Sympathies SC as if you didnt have enough to cope with already - I hope things improve soon

spacecadet · 21/03/2006 21:32

they said hiospital policy is that the initial for treatment of dvt at home is that the imjections have to be administered by nursing staff!..grrr.
i think i can adminster my own if it becomes long term as opposed to tablets.
