So I got the letter about an hour ago and am feeling rather wibbly. Firstly because I'm a bit scared, secondly because there will be no more babies. Having said that I am more than happy with the two I have, and don't want any more, but I'm sure everyone going through this feels a bit sad as it's so final.

I'm going to have to rely on H to help, and there is no-one else to ask. I'm just going to have to trust him (he's not the most, erm, helpful sausage). My dc by then will be 3.5 and 1.10. And the little one has a current passion for using my tummy as a trampoline Hmm which will have to stop.

But, all that aside, what the heck do I need to organise. Meals for the freezer for certain, including the dc. What do I need to take with me to hospital do you think? How long are people normally in for?

The reason it's being done is down to a rather large fibroid we have called Freddie. Freddie is visible when I lay on my back, and is causing pain, heavy periods and playing havoc with my bladder. It has to be abdominal due to said fibroid, but I'm keeping the ovaries and cervix.

I need to shift some weight between now and then, so am going to have to resist the comfort of biscuits and chocolate and wine.

Please tell me it won't be as bad as I think!

Hope you all had a lovely day on Monday for DDs birthday Smile

If you're not keen on dairy, you could look at green leafy veg, nuts and some other things, tells you about it here

And don't trip over that halo Grin

cocolepew · 26/09/2012 19:04

Thanks for that Smile

My halo slips down and throttles me regularly Grin

parttimedomesticgoddess · 26/09/2012 19:31

Lol, mine does that too Grin

Am feeling a bit odd today, but think it's just that I'm tired - didn't sleep well last night (tickly throat, then garden waste lorry woke me by parking outside our house at 6 and sitting there with the engine running for5 minutes Hmm) Hopefully will sleep better tonight

cocolepew · 26/09/2012 19:35

Hopefully it's tiredness and you're not coming down with something.
I had to go to a parent teacher interview today, walked 20 minutes there and back, it usually takes half that time. DD said it's like taking a granny for a walk Shock.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 29/09/2012 08:54

Morning! How are you doing? Seem to be good here, have my follow up appointment at the hospital on Thursday.
Still being careful as conscious of internal healing still happening - don't know about you, but it's not always easy to predict the things that you do and then think 'maybe that wasn't such a good idea'. Opening one of the freezer drawers last night was one of those moments (started to do it, then realised how heavy it was and changed my mind - had to delegate the retrieval of oven chips Grin)
Hope the autumn sun is shining where you are, and that you have a good weekend

cocolepew · 29/09/2012 09:25

Hello Smile I realised the other day that I shouldn't carry the wash basket downstairs! Drove for the first time in Thursday but I was sore and swollen afterwards so I think I'll wait a bit longer, the MOT runs out today and it's not booked in until next saturday so I can't be tempted.

Still getting crampy pains, on and off, but not bleeding so much and ok on the 25mg hrt. I am going to try the 50mg on my next patch change.

The worse thing is my back and pelvis, I'm going to phone my oestopath next week. I'm hoping I can see her after 6 weeks.
I caught sight of myself in a full length mirror yesterday and appeared to have turned into a shorty, dumpy middle aged woman Shock. I'm convinced I've shrunk but nobody else seems to think I have Grin

Hope everybody is good Smile

cocolepew · 29/09/2012 09:56

Ffs I've just got a,letter telling me to go for a medical assessment for my benefit claim. I got 2 letters last week, on the same day, one telling me I wasn't getting spp and the other saying I was. I had already been paid the back ssp on the same day Confused. Then I was sent a book to fill in saying what I can and can't do. I repeatly put I was post op and would be returning to my own job in November.

Dear help whoever answers the phone to me on monday, I'm totally pissed off Angry.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 29/09/2012 14:45

How frustrating, totally understand why you are Angry I would feel exactly the same

Hope the osteopath can help you out with your back/pelvis. Have you ever tried pilates? My experience isn't huge, but I do know you need to find a good teacher who can keep you at the front and watch you to make sure you're doing it right when you first start going. Can work wonders for your whole core strength, and I'm planning going back to that in a while (think I might just keep my gym membership frozen in October and possibly November though as my new job is full time and I haven't worked full time since DD1 was born 9.5 years ago!)

Good luck with the 50mg patch too

cocolepew · 29/09/2012 15:46

I used to do pilates from Darcy Bushles dvd (actually think it was a videoShock) and liked it, I was going to start again. I'll have to look for it on dvd now. I'm too lazy to out to a class grin].

It'a shock to the system going back to fulltime work, I went from 3 hours a day to 6 hours last September, but then went off at the end of November. I'll know all about myself this November!
We'll sleep like logs when we start back.

cocolepew · 29/09/2012 17:31

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 02/10/2012 14:30

Did you manage to get anything sorted about your benefits coco?

Not much to report here, appt with consultant on Thu, and I'm slightly in shock to now be married to a man who's 50 Shock

And yes, it's going to be a massive adjustment for all of us when I go back to full-time, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes.

Hope all is good with you mama?

cocolepew · 02/10/2012 19:09

No, I told a white lie and said I couldn't drive yet, but I need a drs letter for that excuse. I'll have to make an appointment and go up. Waste if time and money if you ask me.

I have an appointment next week with my own dr to talk about my hrt, went on the 50mg today. Feel awful to be honest. Very, very fatigued. My joints and bones feel like lead and I feel odd down below Blush.
I know you can get achy joints with the menopause, so I was wondering if it is just lack of estrogen.
My DH is still a youngster at 44!

Good luck for your check up, but its all ok.

cocolepew · 02/10/2012 19:10

Hope, not but!

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 03/10/2012 07:11

Grrr, how annoying that you have to go and see them. Hope you get it sorted anyway, as you're expecting to be off until the end of October I think?
Also hope that you get somewhere with the GP/HRT, that's rotten if it's making you feel awful Sad There are lots of different types and ways to take it (I think), so hopefully you have a good GP and you can discuss trying different sorts if this one makes you feel rotten. I think you've had a real year of it haven't you, so you want to be starting to feel better! If the 25mg was OK, maybe you could talk to your dr about sticking with that and maybe taking a calcium supplement at the same time (isn't one of the reasons we're taking it osteoporosis prevention?) Having said that, my Dsis who had the op done when she was 36, is only on 25mg. She occasionally gets hot flushes, but that's all, so maybe it's OK to stay on the lower dose too?
Anyway, DDs up now, have to start the morning stuff here.
Will let you know how my check up goes tomorrow - have a good day!

cocolepew · 03/10/2012 08:40

Morning, not a great night. Very crampy, like if my period was coming. I have a very sharp pain around the right side of my belly button going down towards my vagina. I gave an awful feeling I've had a vaginal prolapse. I feel very heavy down there.
I drove a small bit on thursday and friday, I hope it wasn't too soon.
I might need to phone the dr later.

I hope everything is good at your check up tomorrow Smile

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 03/10/2012 09:36

Oh coco, that doesn't sound good at all Sad
Please go and see the dr - I'm sure you shouldn't be feeling v crampy (let alone the sharp pain or the heavy feeling)
Have to do some work now (still working at home) - but will be back to check up on you later Grin

cocolepew · 03/10/2012 10:04

Argh! I have shingles no wonder I felt wick.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 03/10/2012 17:36

Flippin' heck coco Sad
Have you been to the dr? Surely shingles wouldn't make you crampy would it?

cocolepew · 03/10/2012 18:54

I'm falling to bits Shock.
Shingles are on my lower back and, ahem, bum. It could explain pains in my stomach, this is the forth year in a row I've got them, but I usually get them at the top of my back.

I was having a nosy through hysterectomy forums and its not unusal to still be in pain, its the muscles and nerves knitting together. The pain around my bely button went after I went to the toilet Blush.

Good luck tomorrow Smile

cocolepew · 04/10/2012 08:43

Good luck at your check up Smile

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 04/10/2012 16:39

Hey coco, how're you doing today? I have no idea about shingles - how long does it last?

Just thought I'd let you know that my check up went extremely well - my consultant is delighted, and says that I am definitely a 'success story'. He did a quick internal exam, and said that it all looks great, and he also said that the very light bleeding could last for 6-8 weeks due to the type of stitch type thing they use to close the top of the vagina. He also reiterated that I was not a straightforward case - I was offered the hysterectomy due to the adenomyosis that showed up on a gynae scan, however he found 'extensive' endometriosis once I was on the operating table. I'm so glad that I had agreed to have my ovaries taken before the op now, as he said that my ovaries were actually fused to my uterus due to the endometriosis Shock, so I suspect they would have had to come out whether I had expressly agreed beforehand or not. As much as anything, it makes me feel so much better about having it done (kind of in a Spike Milligan 'I told you I was ill' way - let me know if you have no idea what I'm talking about, and I'll explain!)

When are you due for your follow up appointment?

cocolepew · 04/10/2012 16:48

Oh good, I'm glad it went well Smile.

I'm not getting a follow up, I have to request one if I want it. I'm seeing my own dr next week and I'll see if she thinks I need one.

I was lucky, I only had extensive endo scarring so I now my op was pretty straightforward. I was told my womb was a complete mess, but that didn't surprise me! I'm not really bleeding very much at all now.
Still ridiculously tired, if Im up and about too much my pelvis is stiffening up so much. I have an appointment with my oestopath in a few weeks so hopefully that will sort me out.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 04/10/2012 17:03

Thanks, I'm really pleased Smile I knew that I felt really well, but my only concern was that everything wasn't as great on the inside as it was on the outside IYSWIM? And because my cervix was taken out too, it should be a really long time before I have to have an internal exam (possibly never, yay!)

I'm a bit Shock that you're not getting a follow up though, I was very happy to have one. The only issue I have now is a few headaches, which I think are from the HRT, but I'm hoping they will work themselves through.

The only thing he said that I had to avoid now was vigorous sex Blush

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 04/10/2012 17:04

Sorry, posted without saying that the shingles can't be helping with you feeling tired though? Really hope you start to feel the benefits of your op soon though, you've had a really rough year of it I think?

Have some Thanks

cocolepew · 04/10/2012 17:40

Thanks! Did you tell him that you're married to a fifty year old so of course there won't be any vigorous sex? Wink

At the time I was pleased there wasn't a follow up so no more poking. But now I would like one just to be reassured everything is going the way it should.
