So I got the letter about an hour ago and am feeling rather wibbly. Firstly because I'm a bit scared, secondly because there will be no more babies. Having said that I am more than happy with the two I have, and don't want any more, but I'm sure everyone going through this feels a bit sad as it's so final.

I'm going to have to rely on H to help, and there is no-one else to ask. I'm just going to have to trust him (he's not the most, erm, helpful sausage). My dc by then will be 3.5 and 1.10. And the little one has a current passion for using my tummy as a trampoline Hmm which will have to stop.

But, all that aside, what the heck do I need to organise. Meals for the freezer for certain, including the dc. What do I need to take with me to hospital do you think? How long are people normally in for?

The reason it's being done is down to a rather large fibroid we have called Freddie. Freddie is visible when I lay on my back, and is causing pain, heavy periods and playing havoc with my bladder. It has to be abdominal due to said fibroid, but I'm keeping the ovaries and cervix.

I need to shift some weight between now and then, so am going to have to resist the comfort of biscuits and chocolate and wine.

Please tell me it won't be as bad as I think!

Thank you for your good luck wishes :-) As promised, I will report back as soon as I can.

auntpetunia · 06/08/2012 19:14

Good luck on Thursday!

cocolepew · 09/08/2012 12:06

Thinking off you today emanon.

emanon · 11/08/2012 12:17

Hello ladies I am pleased to report that I survived and all went very well. My op was done by key hole surgery so I only have 3 small incisions which is quite amazing. Only two nights in hospital and I'm home today, feeling a bit sore but other than that very good. My fibroid weighed a huge 1.1kg, so I certainly won't miss having it in my tummy! If you have any questions, please ask :)

cocolepew · 11/08/2012 12:21

Hurray! I'm glad it went well and you are home. Are you sore?

emanon · 11/08/2012 12:35

Yes quite sore, but that will pass. Other than that feeling pretty good :-)

cocolepew · 11/08/2012 18:07

Knock the painkillers in you and take it easy Smile

emanon · 11/08/2012 20:27

Are you going for your op soon cocolepew?

cocolepew · 11/08/2012 20:38

29th, not too long to go!

LordFlasheart · 13/08/2012 19:57

Back from holiday, glad to hear it went wwell emanon! Bet you wre so happy to lose that monster!

I have called my fibroid Boris. He is slowly shrinking. I will be so pleased to see him go Grin

LadyS- I take transemic acid every month- its brilliant stuff. Makes your blood clot more quickly or something I think. Had to ask doctor for that myself too- pity more isnt done to offer these things- they can really help!

emanon · 30/08/2012 19:10

I hope all went well for you cocolepew. I'm pleased to report that 3 weeks on since my op I wouldn't know I had had an operation, it's been a great recovery.

cocolepew · 31/08/2012 21:36

Thanks Smile I got my op on wednesday at 5pm and got home today at 3pm. Feel very tired today but not as sore as I thought, but I was very sore before getting it done.

Dr said my womb was very imflamed and scarred and it was better out than in! Grin

Glad to hear you are doing so well, good luck to others still waiting.

cocolepew · 01/09/2012 19:19

I take it back about not being too sore Sad painful this afternoon and lots of wind pain. Bit weepy as well.

I think I need to keep on top of my pain relief , rather than waiting until I'm sore.

emanon · 01/09/2012 19:36

Sorry to hear you're feeling sore cocolepew. It will pass as will the wind pain. Every day gets a little bit better. Feeling weepy is normal too. Do update when you're feeling better.

parttimedomesticgoddess · 02/09/2012 20:12

I'm due in at 12:30 tomorrow for mine, so maybe we can convalesce together Coco? Sorry to hear that you're not feeling great at the mo - wind pain is one of the things that I'm scared about (I suffer with a lot of wind at the best of times). Have you started HRT yet?

cocolepew · 02/09/2012 20:54

Oh goo.d luck! I gave my Windezze which is helping a bit. I think you feel not to bad for the first few days then it hits you, but at least I will get better Smile

I started hrt yesterday, I'm on 2mg of estrogen until I'm 50. It seems mainly to be to protect your bones.
I'll be thinking of you Smile

cocolepew · 02/09/2012 23:11

If you can get your hands on one of those big v pillows I can recommend it. Its good to prop yourself up with and you can put it between your legs to prop your tummy on so you can lie on your side. If you have been dozing try to move as soon as you wake up, it helps dislodge the wind.

parttimedomesticgoddess · 03/09/2012 06:28

Brilliant, thanks. Not sure I'll be able to get one now, but will try and achieve the same thing with normal pillows. I also have some lactulose to take, which I hope will help. Was yours abdominal or keyhole? Mine will be keyhole, which should make a massive difference to the recovery (assuming all goes well).
How are you feeling this morning?

cocolepew · 03/09/2012 09:33

Keyhole. Truthfullly? I've never known pain like it Sad it definitely gets worse after a few days.
Good luck today

parttimedomesticgoddess · 03/09/2012 11:00

Sad coco
Thanks for the good wishes - I'll report back in when I can, and hopefully you'll be feeling less sore by then too

cocolepew · 03/09/2012 11:28

Sorry fro previous post, feel much better atm.

cocolepew · 04/09/2012 09:40

Hope everything went ok yesterday, I'm feeling much bettter today, pain has really lessened. I seem to have a bladder issue going in Hmm in the fact that wee seems to be flowing out if me. I'm hopping its temporary.

I read a good tip yesterday, when you go to move, breath in and move on the breath out, it stops you tightening yout tummy muscles. Also on the US hystersisters site they reccomend wringing out a wet towel and heating it in a microwave, then laying it on your stomach to help wind move. Dont read anything else on that site , they are mostly bonkers! Going out driving and shopping on day 3 post op! Shock.

parttimedomesticgoddess · 05/09/2012 20:38

Hello! All went well, came home this afternoon and am reasonably comfortable, cocodamol is marvellous stuff Grin
I did um and ah about having my ovaries taken but decided to go for it, consultant told me it was a good call as it turned out that I had endometriosis too which was unknown. Best thing I've found for wind pain is peppermint cordial, drank loads in the hospital and have some at home too. Most effective made with hot water, but totally shifted the initial wind pain which was awful. Hope your bladder sorts itself out, is it still happening? They didn't fully warn me how big my stomach would be, my loosest trousers wouldn't do up at all to come home! I also started my HRT yesterday. So pleased to hear you're feeling better than you were

cocolepew · 05/09/2012 20:45

I'm so pleased Smile
Feeling good a week on, really only taking painkillers before sleep, bowels started yesterday and it was fine Grin

Still lazing about in bed, very fatigued. Bladder is definitely better but not 100%, I think it was irritated/inflammed. Hoping it stops Hmm.

I'm very swolllen but not as much as when I went in, reading forums 'swelly belly' can hang around a long time Shock

Take care and get plenty of rest Smile

parttimedomesticgoddess · 06/09/2012 10:42

Morning, how are you today? I didn't get that much sleep last night (not in an especially bad way, just in a not sleeping kind of way) Am looking forward to a nap soon Smile
