Morning ladies

So dd is 9 months and I have stopped bf, felt a few twinges over tge last couple of days so was not surprised when af seemed to be making an appearance last night.

Woken this morning and after going to tge toilet and changing my pad I was wiping and it felt different. So I had a quick feel and straight away it feels like something is there.

I have looked in tge mirror and something is indeed there to see in my fanjo Sad Shock

We have had sex, not millions of time tbf. The last time we had sex, last week, we did have to change positions quite often as something was a bit tender.

So did I have to go to the gps? I am on my period. I have an appt for dd who is 9 months today but can't whip my fanjo out can I? Do I make an urgent apptionment? Help

You know you have to go... I'd get an apt on my own, nothing worse than trying to talk to dic while baby is distracting...

Whilst browsing in active convos I've noticed a prolapse thread - have you had a look on there for info ?

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 07:34

Yes it's bumped cause I managed to find it after doing a search. I have linked back to this tgread to ask for advice.

Am already getting myself worried tgat I will need surgery, start a new job in a month can be off for weeks I won't pass my probationary period!

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 18/05/2012 07:34

Yes it's probably a prolapse. Wait until your period is finish as the doc is going to need to examine you. Don't panic it's not urgent. You should be able to self refer to the Physio dept at your maternity unit so look into that too Smile

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 07:36

Oh and thanks for replying Smile

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 18/05/2012 07:36

They won't do surgery as a first response. They will treat with Physio and only operate when all else fails and symptoms are very bad. I know it's an awful feeling but try not panic. Physio can work wonders. In the meanwhile limit your lifting as much as possible

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 07:38

Thanks Fisharefriendsnotfood.

How do you self refer Confused?
Also is it possible not all of my period is coming out due to blockage? I expected to really flood with it being my first one but not a lot at all?

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 07:41

Fisharefriendsnotfood thank you do much, also have a dd who is 4, and little dd is still in her carry car seat a getting quite a lump.

I'll make an apptionment as soon as my period has finished, I guess at least I can answer my medical questionnaire honestly as I won't have seen my gp.

I feel much better thank you do much.

Hi Ohno

I would say you need to go to your doctor to ascertain what it is. I do have a prolapse and find it gets worst around my period so maybe that is why you noticed it then.

If you need any further help pop back over to the prolapse thread and have a chat

Best wishes

Pip

Really try not to lift. If your baby can wriggle in and out of wherever then let that happen! carry her and the seat separately if you have to. I had my prolapse repaired and was advised never to lift anything over 1 stone again.

Try to rope in some help as much as you can for trolley pushing, unloading shopping, lifting the hoover around at home- just stop all of that!

WipsGlitter · 18/05/2012 09:14

Mine also "feels" worse when I have my period. As someone said surgery will not be the first option particularly if you want more children. Lots of good advice on t'other thread.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/05/2012 09:34

I'm in a similar position with mine, I'm waiting for an appointment with gynae.

What does physio involve? My GP said that they might put me straight for surgery as I do not want more children and it is getting worse / impacting my lifestyle but I won't know till I've seen the gynae department. I'm getting very frustrated with not being able to do stuff I've always taken for granted.

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 09:36

Thanks everyone

mrsolympic2012 really? Blimey.

Must admit I am feeling a bit funny about speaking to dh later. Really don't want to tell my mother whom I am seeing today and spend a lot of time with. She will notice if I stop lifting things. I could say my backs hurting.?!?

I wonder why it can be worse during your period?

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 18/05/2012 09:58

I think it is the weight of a full uterus that pushes down. There's different types affecting bladder and rectum. I saw GP (got a same day appt) and she referred to gynae who checked it out (nice!). You can do pelvic floor exercises to help.

mrsolympic2012 · 18/05/2012 11:20

The reason it is worse during a period is to do with hormones. Progesterone relaxes muscles ( 2nd half of cycle) and oestrogen makes them stronger- so during your period your oestrogen levels are at their lowest.

You may get some improvement with physio and pelvic floor work, but it depends on how bad things are.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 18/05/2012 13:22

To self refer just ring the hospital and ask to make an appointment with the woman's health Physio, they should be able to help you. You don't need a gp to get you an appointment.

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 14:31

Thanks everyone you have certainly helped me today.

Fish I think I will go that way, my gp is terrible and I've been meaning to change for a while.

OP posts:
Fisharefriendsnotfood · 18/05/2012 18:14

Change now so fanjo, it's a sensitive problem and you don't need a crap doctor. I've been through the whole thing a couple of times so feel free to pm me at anytime

OhNoMyFanjo · 18/05/2012 18:24

Thanks fish I really appricate that and all of your advice today Thanks

If you do have a prolapse then a great website is www.pelvicexercises.com.au . It tells you exactly what you can do, and can't do - seriously beware pilates/yoga! Or you can search the internet for Michelle Kenway the physio from the site. The pay-for downloadable from that site is great.

Physio should help strengthen the pelvic floor muscle to improve syptoms (feeling of bulging / stress incontinence). For me, being absolutely committed to the exercises, I managed to get symptom free (stopped the bulging feeling) - until I did too much inappropriate exercise (pilates as recommended by my Gyn!!!) - thus the recommendation above! I'm now back on the exercises with a vengence! Please don't lift anything that you think of as slightly heavy!

By the way there seriously isn't the need for TMI warning. SO many women have this, I'm a kind of spread the message kind of gal and have no issue discussing it with anyone woman.

Good luck Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/05/2012 20:51

Thanks from me too. I have posted on the longe running threads, and spent a lot of time trawling them, but it is helpful having a few answers here too.

Gybegirl that link is really useful. It has cheered me up to some extent because it appears I am doing a lot of the right things exercise wise. I go to Pilates class but have been doing modified versions due to lower back problems which are the exact modifications the website suggest for pelvic floor problems. There is a conflict though, I generally squat a lot instead of bending OM the waist, to save my back, but now need to be very careful of my prolapse, so I have bought some of those small gardening kneeler foam blocks and kneel on the floor instead of bending or squatting. However I was a runner and am really missing that. Even walking is uncomfortable now.

WipsGlitter · 18/05/2012 22:44

whoknos my gynae said it was ok to keep running!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/05/2012 22:49

Really? I was worried that running might have been what made it get so much worse. Actually, I think what really set it off was going on the DCs new trampoline at Easter, although it was probably only a matter of time, I was badly repaired after one of my DCs was born.

WipsGlitter · 19/05/2012 09:07

Trampoline no!!!! I got on my sisters for 30 seconds and it was awful. I guess it depends on the severity. I don't run fast enough probably to do any damage.
