Would anyone care to diagnose me?

I am feeling pants but I don't want to go to the doctor if it's nothing really.

So here is the story, I will be graphic in the hopes that it helps with the Mumsnet Diagnosis (TM). Hope no one is eating.

Since Tuesday I have had kind of a stabby pain in my right side of my tummy. It is between my belly button and hip.
It's sort of constant. Never dreadful enough to take my breath away just freaking annoying. It does not hurt when I press it. It's just the same if I am standing up, sitting down, moving or not moving. It is also a bit randomly going down my groin and thigh sometimes.

Last night it got v bad and then I had a LOAD of diarrhoea.

This morning I had the diarrhoea again. I also was v v dizzy with spots in front of my eyes and couldn't really get my breath. There was sweat pouring off me. I was alone in a hotel in Paris and had to fly back at midday so I took two Immodium, paracetamol and nurofen and got home.

Now I am in bed and feeling ok-ish. Pain is still there but not horrendous and tummy is very rumbly.

Do you think it was just a mild food poisoning thing? Or some type of bug? I am hoping it's none of the following: appendix, ovary, fallopian tube! My plan is to stay in bed and see how I am tomorrow.

What do you reckon laydees

Appendix. I'd get it checked out.

Conflugenglugen · 20/04/2012 14:41

That is in my non-professional, mad-stab-in-the-dark opinion, btw. But still, I think you should at least call your doctor.

FaceCrack · 20/04/2012 14:41

Could be appendix but it's odd that it doesn't hurt when you press it.
I'd see your GP.
Hope you get better soon.

Whirliwig72 · 20/04/2012 14:47

Sorry to worry you but sounds very much like what I went through when I had an appendicitis Blush. With me I had a terrible night much as you describe then things got better. I almost didn't go to the doctor but I'm so glad I did because when I was operated on they found out that the appendix was about to explode! Sad Apparently the pain sometimes stops as the infection gets worse as the appendix moves away from touching the nearby organs. I don't want to worry but you should get this checked out ASAP!

iliketea · 20/04/2012 14:49

Could be a tummy bug. It could also be your appendix, especially with the sweating as that could be a high temperature. Also the fact that the pain goes down your thigh and groin could suggest that it's more than just food poisoning. GP would be best option.

tak1ngchances · 20/04/2012 14:49

Thank you all. But wouldn't it be a lot more painful if it was my appendix? I thought appendicitis was agonisingly painful...mine is more of a dull ache. Also doesn't appendicitis hurt when you press it?

FaceCrack · 20/04/2012 14:51

Yes it should hurt when you press it. However, it won't hurt to give your GP a call. Better safe than sorry.

I'm a doc. I thought I had the flu. I avoided going to my GP for 5 days, I had pneumonia and was in hospital for 5 days. Don't self diagnose, get an opinion from your GP.

redrubyshoes · 20/04/2012 14:56

An appendix hurts most when you release your fingers from the painful area and not when you press iyswim.

iliketea · 20/04/2012 14:58

Typically appendicitus hurts, but not always - I worked with someone who had no pain, only bowel symptoms, feeling really ill and dull ache in her leg. When she went for exploratory surgery, her appendix was close to rupturing. See the GP

redrubyshoes · 20/04/2012 14:58

That was what the doctor told me and what I found when I had appendicitis anyway.

Whirliwig72 · 20/04/2012 15:12

It wasn't excruciatingly painful for me. How does it feel when you walk? Do you get a throb of pain every time your foot hits the floor?

tak1ngchances · 20/04/2012 15:16

No throb of pain when I walk, no. It's just constant and a bit random.

I will go to the GP tomorrow if it's still there then.

*sigh.

Are you sure? I'd get a quick check up today if I were you.

Knittingmamma · 20/04/2012 15:27

Appendix. Get thee to a doctor. There is such a thing as a 'grumbling appendix' which is chronic rather than acute but you and your doctor should be aware of it in case it becomes acute.

tunaday · 20/04/2012 18:21

I immediately thought appendix too. Would get it checked as soon as you can. Don't think it has to be totaly agony. Let us know how you get on.

Auntiestablishment · 20/04/2012 18:25

Does sound like appendix .

Or an ovarian thing.

Doctor, please.

MigratingCoconuts · 20/04/2012 18:25

if it is appenidx, you really need it checked out asap

piprabbit · 20/04/2012 18:28

Get it checked out today asap. Don't wait for Friday night madness in A&E. Don't wait for the weekend when the NHS slows to dawdle. Go to your out of hours GP or your A&E department and let them make a call about the seriousness of situation.

Despite your nn, I think you would be silly to take a chance on this.

piprabbit · 20/04/2012 18:29

BTW is there any chance you could be pregnant?

pinksancerre · 20/04/2012 18:38

Lie down flat, press your lower left abdomen and then let go suddenly. If that causes you pain you need to do something tonight. Do you have a temp?

oasisofcalm · 20/04/2012 18:39

dont wish to worry you but that sounds unnervingly like my ectopic pg just before the tube burst, i had heavyish bleeding and was in quite some pain though, but the sweats and constant pain, and runs sound v familiar. Get checked out

piratecat · 20/04/2012 18:42

i am thinking bladder infection which has traveled up to kidney.

piratecat · 20/04/2012 18:44

my friend had something very similar sounding a few weeks ago, on the right, in the place you say.

timetosmile · 20/04/2012 18:49

OK...an ectopic pregnancy, pelvic infection, appendicitis need to be ruled out...you need a Dr's hand on your tummy and a pregnancy test (however unlikely) this evening.

If you're GPs is now shut, then please go along to your out of hours GP place and take a wee sample along with you.

Could be just a grotty tummy bug, but don't rely on anyone here to tell you that, you really do need a check-up.

Let us know how you get on.

LittleMissMcFartyPants · 20/04/2012 20:24

Are you ok oP?
