3 nights ago it was at the top of my leg..all through the night.
two nights ago i was kept awake itching my hands and last night it was my feet.
it really is unbearable and i cant sleep for it, my skin is raw..my head is also itching but no nasties there and no creams or cool water have stopped it.
cant get doc app for two weeks unless i ring back monday and check if any cancellations, but cant do it again tonight

No appt for two weeks . That is a disgrace.

Have you phoned NSH Direct?

foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 10:48

is it something you've eaten? have you had this before?

you can try some thick moisturising creams (like diprobase - you can get it at chemist) but is the itching is really bad, you can ask for Eumovate or even 1% hydrocortisone cream (both from chemist).

foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 10:49

that does seem a long time to wait - have you got a walk-in nhs clinic near you?

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 10:52

no, no walk in clinic.
ive been covering my hands and feet with aquaous cream, but it makes no difference..and its all over..my back my arms especially but i can think of anything new ive used or eated?
my feet are cut with all the scratching last night

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 10:57

where are you?

I would use a stronger cream - go to the chemist, show them the rash and see what they say.

As it's all over your body though, I'd really be tempted to go and find a walk-in clinic or plead with the GP because if you don't normally get this sort of skin thing, it could be something else (not an allergy) that's causing it.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 10:59

im in teesside
i can ring doc back in morn, but they made me aware that itching wasnt really an emergency!
there no rash?..just itching?..arms legs head back everywhere?even inside my ears?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 11:02

have you tried taking an antihistamine to see if it helps?

poor you - which NHS trust are you? I can't believe you don't have a walk-in place - that's dreadful.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 11:02

trying to get back through to doc now to try for app with even the nurse? as when i googled it, it says all over body itching with no sign of aggrevation could be something more sinister?
feel like ive got fleas!

OP posts:
SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 11:04

ive only got dd's medised in..not sure that would be enough?

cant get back through to bloody doc now!

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 11:06

yes I imagine if this is not the sort of thing you normally get then it's well worth getting it checked out quickly (especially if all over your body). I had a similar thing recently (though not as bad as you) and they checked out my liver to make sure it was functioning properly.

If you get through to the doc, ask them where you are supposed to go to be seen if they won't see you for 2 weeks.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 11:08

yeah, i will never thought about it before as we only moved here recently and previously not had prob getting appointment??

meggmoo · 07/02/2006 11:08

I had exactly what you describe and thought I was going to be driven mad. I took anti histamine and did a kind of detox, nothing fancy. I drank as much water as I possibly could and ate nothing but rice, fruit and veg (lots of avocadoes for me!) and sipped juice and herbal tea. To my utter amazement it eased off after about 3 days but I was really good with my diet I cut out all processed stuff which if anything made me feel so much better.

My sympathies though I remember being in tears at silly 'o clock in the morning scratching like a loon!

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 11:13

got through!
if i ring back at 8am in morn(another night of it!), i may be able to get an appointment with a nurse, but i cant even go for an emergency app as ive told them its been going on for three days and they wouldnt see me!

foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 11:14

I think nhs direct can be quite helpful for things like this. Phone them up, tell them GP can't see you and ask them to find you a local place you can go. THey should have all details of all your drop-in places locally and hopefully (fingers crossed) you will have one closer than you think.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 07/02/2006 11:15

arrghh! supposed to be taking dd out with some other kids this afty?..dont know what to do?, plus one has conjuctivitus[sp]..dont know if i could pas something onto them?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 07/02/2006 17:31

did you find somewhere?

alexsmum · 07/02/2006 18:00

whizz up to a&e , then you are guaranteed to be seen if only by triage nurse.
get yourself some clarityn or something-sounds awful.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 08/02/2006 10:21

took some anti histemine i found in medicine cabinet..seemed to have helped..everyone at college thought i had fleas though..but slept through, with no manic itching?
still itching this morning but not as strong???
rang doc at 8.3o to be told id missed appointments for day (appointments started at 8.00 and were all gone by half past, which was the earliest i could ring as i was dropping off dp from 7.45)
think ill go and buy some more antihistemines and see if they help anymore?
thanks for your help

have a chat to the pharmacist, see what they think - they can have useful advice.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 08/02/2006 10:26

ah, never thought of that..will ring B.I.L, he's one thanks MTS

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 08/02/2006 10:27

I agree re going to the pharmacist. Do you have little bites on you? Perhaps it is bed bugs! One of the best ways to zap them is to wash all your bed stuff on 90C and leave the bare mattress in the sun.

Poor you.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 08/02/2006 10:35

no, no bites and i regulary hoover the beds..hopefully if nice enough tomorrow ill wash em, but dont think its that as its all day?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 08/02/2006 10:41

probably isn't - I'm glad you have got some relief from the antihistamines. Keep bugging the doc! Perhaps it would be better to turn up at 8am so you are first in the queue.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 08/02/2006 10:52

yeah, dont need car tomorrow, so could get there for it opening!.good thinking batman!

OP posts:
kleggie · 08/02/2006 11:16

Our surgery has the emergency appointments from 8am thing too BUT they will only accept phone calls and will turn you away if you land on the doorstep. Just check their policy before turning up.
