ds is home today He has been throwing up all weekend and is really hot but says he feels tired but ok.Lots of kids off in his class so not too worried Dp and I were both ill last week and still very tired so I think this one takes a while

Blossomhill · 06/02/2006 19:07

mercy - yep I have. Took ds today as he has had it for 11 days now and wanted to get him checked over. Nothing gp could do as viral. Said that I am doing everything right. Minadex (tonic) has helped ds loads and he is going back to school tomorrow as he has perked up so much.

oh great i can see my two off for this week then plus the following week is half term. my ds came home from school shivering today and was asleep by 6.50 tonight and dd came home after accident in her pants at school and terrible wind and grumbling noises coming from her tummy and she flaked out on sofa after school , ate her tea as normal then fell asleep on sofa by 6 pm and she carried on sleeping even when i took her upstairs to bed and put her pjs on so it seems they both got different versions plus dh had the flu one at the weekend so guess who will get it next and we`re suposed to be going away next week..bah humbug!!!

katetee · 06/02/2006 19:18

hi
was thinking of taking dd o see doc tomorrow, as her tonsils are very swollen, enlarged glands and hacking cough. Like you said, it's bound to be viral so I don't really know why I am bothering, probably just to make me feel better that I have done something. Took her before Christmas and got same reaction!, but she is quite poorly this time. She was up from Thusday night throwing up, fever, chills etc, but has slowly progressed to this better state!!

Mercy · 06/02/2006 19:32

katetee, if dd's tonsils are swollen etc, I would definitely see the doctor.

bambio6 - not sounding good - sympathies!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 06/02/2006 19:43

ive got the gastric side of it - havent eaten since saturday... water is going straight through me. Severe chest pain has started this afternoon so think it is a chest infection on top - off to docs tomorrow.

becky has runny bum, off her milk... generally not herself, soshe is coming to docs tomorrow too.

PLEASE say this will be over by saturday... got family coming up for Becky's christening on sunday!!!

Mercy · 06/02/2006 19:48

Jarm - bloody hell, you do sound poorly

best wishes for the weekend

I wonder if this is what DS has? Hacking cough, sore throat, lethargy. I've been dosing him with calpol and nurofen. Poor thing was coughing and crying because it hurt so much. Does it really last for a week? Now for all the rest of us to get it!

Mercy · 08/02/2006 09:16

Sounds like it unfortunately. The influenza B thing is mainly affecting children though.

dd has been ill for almost a week now.

How's everyone else doing?

This must be what DH and DS had. They are both better although DH has a lingering cough. They were both off all the week before last. I shall tell DH that it was a mild form of 'flu according to the Health Protection Agency link!

Actually though even mild 'flu is pretty nasty - bearing in mind that the stronger versions can kill you. So I do sympathise.

florenceuk · 08/02/2006 10:11

DS had another horrendous night but was very pleased to end up in Mum's bed (Dad got a good night's sleep in the spare room). Still had a high temperature even after doses of calpol and nurofen, so I put a wet cloth on his head which seemed to help. DH at home today with them but it's building up to a childcare/work crisis if this thing lasts a week and/or if DD gets it too. Just had to moan - sorry!

Bozza · 08/02/2006 10:28

Ah florence - you have to do what I did - make sure DH gets it at the same time as DS so they are off sick together.

Actually I am being flippant because I did feel guilty leaving DS with DH when DH was feeling so rough and I wouldn't have done it if it had been DD (DS is nearly 5, DD is 1). And it was very hard because DD was also teething, so I was working, doing nursery runs, all the housework, up in the night with the kids, and doing my best to leave them sorted before I went to work.

Passionflower · 08/02/2006 10:48

We've got it too.

DD1 has just gone back to school after a week off (temperature, vomiting and flu symptoms) I thought we were through the worst but DD2 threw up on Monday night and has a temperature so looks like we'll be stuck at home at least the rest of the week.

It's driving me nuts!

florenceuk · 08/02/2006 11:25

Well, I have no doubt that if I were sick then DH would head off to work as we are both under pressure at the moment. Having said that, I have had flu jab this year, DH has not!
