Dunno, why are you ?

beansprout · 23/01/2006 14:52

No, I was due to have one but the nurse said I shouldn't even when it was only possible that I may have been pregnant.

Nbg · 23/01/2006 14:53

I was told not to.

BudaBabe · 23/01/2006 14:53

Think I had one but not too sure.

heavenis · 23/01/2006 14:53

I don't think you should. Can be done at 6 wks check after birth.

nutcracker · 23/01/2006 14:54

Sorry that was very nosey.

Cannot imagine having a smear test at 6 weeks! OUCH!

I went for 'post natal' check today and made it clear I wouldn't be having one today, especially as I doubt that sad excuse of a GP could find his own wife's clit w/a laser pointer, wouldn't let him near me w/a ten foot barge pole.

Congrats, Miaou!!

dh pointed out that as they scrape cells from the neck of the cervix, it is maybe a little too close for comfort to the action. I shall ring the gps in the morning to check.

Don't get too excited yet! I haven't tested, just got a lot of signs....

My understanding is that changes in the cells could give distorted results to the smear.

When I was pregnant both times (9 and 14 years ago) the attitude was if you're due to have a smear you have it. I was very glad that I had recently had one when I became pregnant each time as I had heard of people who miscarried. It's good to know that these days they're not so keen on doing them if you're pregnant.

mears · 23/01/2006 22:05

Best not to have smear when pregnant as result may be false due to hormonal changes in pregnancy.

Toothache · 23/01/2006 22:08

Miaou! !!!!

Both times I was due a smear test I arrived at the Nurses room with a positive test, although with the second baby she said the test was negative coz it was so faint!
Even then she said go home and wait for AF to arrive just to be sure. She said she couldn't do a smear test if there was a chance I was pg..... they don't like messing with the cervix too much then!

How old is your baby????

mad woman

Miaou · 23/01/2006 23:52
