Typo - my boobs are 34J! Not just 34. Smile

Littlefish · 03/03/2012 17:59

Ben10 - thinking about the catheter was why I went for nighties.

jackie62 · 03/03/2012 22:49

Ben 10, Definitely dresses rather than trousers in case you have a catheter. How about buying a couple of lovely sundresses rather than normal nightie type things, at least then you will be able to use them later, maybe with leggings? However, the disadvantage of this is that the nurses constantly think you are going home because you are dressed more formally. I feel a lot more comfortable in 'normal' clothes. Good decision about the trip. I was trying not to be too pessimistic but it would be hard and not necessarily a lovely experience, and you will be a long way from your comfy bed just when you need it! Xx

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 04/03/2012 06:59

Jackie That gives me an excuse to buy dresses. Just what I needed Grin

Hi Sure (and all the other ladies 'old' and new)
No I never really got a reason for the urgency problem although it is mentioned as a possibility in a lot of what you read. Obviously it wasn't mentioned in anything my surgeon gave me though as according to him it had only happened in less than 2 per cent of his patients. Tbh I did have some urgency before the op so if you haven't got that, that is a good sign for you:) The op and recovery itself was really a doddle when I read what a lot of you have gone through with prolapse ops etc. Not lifting anything for a few weeks was really the trickiest part.
I'm certain that you are years and years younger than me, Sure, I'm post meno but do bear in mind that a lot of problems with infections etc can be associated with lack of oestrogen so when you come to that stage, make sure you're knowledgeable on that side of things. I wasn't and had lots of infections, not strictly a TVT issue but thought I'd mention it.
Loads of luck to you, the odds are definitely in your favour :)
And lots of luck to all you others due to have your ops.

fengirl1 · 05/03/2012 07:02

Nannasylv - hoping you get some answers and that I get my colposcopy appt (Sad).

Nannasylv · 05/03/2012 15:55

fengirl1 - I got an appointment, on the 5th April (the surgeon is away all through March), and his secretary said I could see anyone else, as he is the only one who deals with prolapses (I do hope this means they've found the cause of all this!).I felt so chuffed, when she said she'd get me booked in for a consultation, so I was in the system now, instead of waiting any longer.

Fingers crossed (for me, and everyone else).

If I won the lottery, I would set up a centre for all this sort of stuff. I would never wish this pain, embarrassment, degradation, and the delays on even my worst enemy!

Nannasylv · 05/03/2012 16:08

That should say COULDN'T see anyone else. Brain not working, probably due to (unjustified?) euphoria of feeling I may be getting somewhere!

fengirl1 · 05/03/2012 17:10

That's positive news Nannasylv!

surewoman · 05/03/2012 17:28

Nannasylv - Wine Grin !!!!! At last some good news for you x

happy2beme · 05/03/2012 17:31

Happy days Nannysylv sounds positive xx

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 05/03/2012 17:57

Well dne Nannysylv,

First day that I have felt the pain from the prolapses. Went out to town with DH to buy nighties etc for hospital. Sorry for TMI but attempted sex with DH this morning what was the point of that as I couldn't feel anything and I think it has not done me any good whatsoever. I felt like everything was hanging down and the dragging feeling was awful. Sorry for all of you who have had this pain for years :(

Nannasylv · 05/03/2012 18:07

Ben10- Isn't it a good idea that they see it at it's worst, so they are more thorough in what they are about to do? Never TMI for me, I need all the help I can get, if I'm to get mine sorted! We haven't attempted anything since last July (oh how I envy those of you who can/do!)
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, I don't know if they have got to the bottom of it (usual pun - sorry!) but heres hoping it's all onwards, and upwards from here!

fengirl1 · 05/03/2012 18:19

I'm definitely with the upwards Nannasylv! As for the bedroom department, chance would be a fine thing.......

Nannasylv · 05/03/2012 18:23

fengirl1 - couldn't agree more! (on both counts)

Piplysmelie · 05/03/2012 23:22

Hi all

Did you watch Embarassing Bodies tonight? It was my consultant doing the prolapse surgery. Obviously once I realised it was him I took a big interst in what he was doing and was desperate to get a good view of the stitching! LOL

It's got to be good that he was on Embarassing bodies hasn't it!

Pip

Piplysmelie · 05/03/2012 23:31

Congrats to you Nannsylv, glad to hear things might be finally moving on for you.

Ben sorry to hear you have had a miserable day.

Nannasylv · 06/03/2012 01:48

Piplysmelie - yes watched it. Obviously a good one, you are lucky, and probably quite relieved.

Ben10 - hope you feel a bit better in the morning.

Night all XX

Littlefish · 06/03/2012 06:45

The mesh procedure they did last night is the one I'm having, (plus a rectocele repair), so ai was watching it really closely too.

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 06/03/2012 07:18

Thanks all :) I don't actually feel any urges in the bedroom department but was quite happy to keep DH happy IYSWIM.....however I think it has had the opposite effect. He did say that it felt very different.

I was watching embarrassing bodies through my fingers. Normally I'm not squeamish but a bit close to home at the mo Grin

chirpyemma · 06/03/2012 09:35

Good morning ladies :)

I'm ill in bed with flu type nonsense, and have spent the last couple of days reading the entire "fallen fanjo" thread, right from 2009 to now, so I sort of feel like I know some of you (weird, I know!).
I just wanted to thank you all for speaking about your experiences of this flipping situation with openness, frankness and good humour.
Now I've finally caught up and read the whole thread, I thought it was time to say hello.
I too am in the same boat - many years of problems, interestingly I too had syntocinon inductions with both kids (15 & 13 yrs) - small babies but bad tearing (esp with baby #1), a hysterectomy 7 yrs ago, care jobs where I've always been on my feet, etc etc etc. All contributory factors to the delightful situation I'm in now - op booked for 13 days time - anterior and posterior repair, sacrospinous repair of vaginal vault and TOT to hoick up the bladder.
I've had gynae ops before, but bloody hell I'm nervous about this one!!!

Hope everyone is okay this morning

:)

Hi all you pre-op ladies and welcome chirpy xx- continuing along the TMI vien, like you all the pre-op sex thing was furthest from my mind for months on end, felt very little sensation other than discomfort . Usually only indulged to stop DH from throwing himself off the nearest bridge lol . Strangely enough a little jiggery pokery Grin did sometime push things back up ,definately TMIBlush, but not to be advised as an alternative therapy lol. Well on a positive note post op it does get better so hang on in there . It does take a while and have to take it at a more sedate pace Blush but practice makes perfect so I was told (no really! consultant told me to do as much as I could) lol that brought a smile to my DH face. Whilst we are not anywhere near an aerobic workout stage :) things are getting back to normal xx so it can and does work out , hard to believe when you are at the stage in your journey that most are at this time xx Just thought this might cheer some up and if not at least re-assure you xx
