Footle, how are you, I can't see much of you lately (I was dead jealous, as you mentioned making love - is that where you've been, you lucky woman!!!)

Nannasylv · 06/02/2012 03:06

Surewoman, Please keep posting, as you've been an inspiration to me, in the last few weeks. I need to know what to look for/expect, to get the right help, and, if you can keep plodding on, and getting results, it makes me think so can I!

I'm in a little less pain, as the GP has prescribed painkilling patches, but me and my loo are as close as ever!

dudrop2362 · 06/02/2012 08:17

Hi Jackie yes i was on the old thread after my rectocele repair, it it great is still going isn't it i have found you and foootie really helpful i took your advice on seeds ect! for constipation and they work and i'm so sorrry it is still ongoing for you after all this time, i hope thats it now.
for husky & Fengirli am just recovering from having ovarys falopian tubes and cysts removed, i had or still have adhesions won't know every thing till my appointment later this month, they were all stuck to the pelvic wall, i had a hysterectomy 30 years ago so i'm assuming thats what caused them. he knew they were there from the scan and wasn't sure he would be able to remove them, in my own experience the rectocele repair couldn't be compaired to this, i still need a cystocele and perenium repair, and have deceided the cyctocele i wouldn't be afraid of but i don't want the perinium touched after hearing how painful it is. my gyn also told me it would be painful (i think he is reluctant to do it) i thought maybe because of my age (63) anyway thats fine by me:)glad he couldn't carry out my request to get it all over with at once, the pain with this has been really bad up until a week ago when i was on tramadol and paracetamol up to the limit.

dudrop2362 · 06/02/2012 08:21

suremoman please keep posting we ALL need each other:)

surewoman · 06/02/2012 08:53

Hope you have 'gone with the wind' Smile!!!!

Nannasylv · 06/02/2012 10:07

I was so shocked, last night, at gonewivethewind's comment, that I felt I had to report it to MN. I would be lost without you all, and don't think any of us need that kind of attack. I hope no-one thinks I am over-reacting.

surewoman · 06/02/2012 10:45

Thanks Nanna, I obviously upset someone as I wasn't feeling positive and changed the subject for a few secs. to talk about snow! - by the way, when do you get the results of your scans back? x

surewoman · 06/02/2012 10:47

Just noticed they took the message off! Love you Nanna Smile!

thegingerwhinger · 06/02/2012 11:09

Not overreacting at all Nanna, I too was shocked by gonewivthewind's post, and very confused by it. Very unneccessary.
Hope you're OK, Sure Smile

surewoman · 06/02/2012 11:40

Thanks ginger - I'm ok, but just think perhaps I am hanging around on this site too much ...yes it is boring, when you can't actually 'do' anything and are in constant pain but also very supportive to be able to swop symptoms etc. with others in the same boat - does make you feel less freakish and helps to think about others' problems rather than your own for a bit. Also the mental support is a godsend.

Sounds like you have a rectocele for sure - do your poos come out flat/ribbon like and curved? Mine did prior to the op. Also, my original GP didn't know anything about prolapse when I first had major bowel probs. so I put up with the symptoms for years. It was the nurse at the smear test that noticed it (but only when asked) x

Nannasylv · 06/02/2012 11:55

Surewoman, the Gynae gets the results in 2-3 weeks (I don't know when I'll be informed), but have so little faith now, that I just think they'll fob me off again, or get me certified for imagining it!

The ribbon-like poos sounds VERY familiar, but doctors just kept saying I was constipated! I told them the laxatives just made me incontinent (liquid just doesn't stay where it should!), I also couldn't get them to understand that it's the gravel holding the soft stuff back, once I manually remove this, the rest gets through. Does anyone know what causes the gravel? It's as though this stuff has just sat in a hiding place for so long that it has had all of the moisture removed. Would an enterocele do this?, or could I be right in thinking it's a fistula, running from the rectocele?

Anyway, today I have to sort out the appeal to the DSS, and I am scared that will just cause further problems. I still don't have a diagnosis, the painkiller patches are good, but I can't drive with them, so, from the point of being able to pursue work, I am in deeper s**t than before (forgive the pun!), just less pain (it's not gone completely, but is more tolerable).

I keep praying for divine intervention, it's the only thing that can help me now!

Have a good day folks!

XX

surewoman · 06/02/2012 12:08

Good luck with the appeal - just remember that everything you say you need to be able to justify with evidence to back it up i.e. take copies of all your dated hospital/doc visits and appointments to show that you are trying to get sorted out. They won't be able to dispute it then. Ask the surgery for copies of any letters of referals/follow ups - they should give them to you then and there.

Now, poos - I also had hard gravel at my most severe, just before op. Whether that was the rect. or ent. I've no idea, but my rectocele was not too big so they say. At times, I just had black tar that no amount of wiping would get rid of, hence a need to be near the basin! x

Nannasylv · 06/02/2012 12:20

Sure - I went through the black tar stage a while ago, now it's just gravel, then the fresh stuff. I put an anusol in, straight after a BM, so it can soothe wherever the gravel has come from. It's all guesswork, so I just have to hope I'm keeping it at bay, until the "professionals" pick up the ball and run with it!

thegingerwhinger · 06/02/2012 14:05

Yes, Sure, my poos are flat and curved. I told the Dr this morning that they look like they've come round a corner. They're always so small as well. He said a definite 'no' to any kind of prolapse (without having looked Hmm). However, he doesn't know what can be causing it and agrees that it's not normal, so he's booked me in for a double appointment at the end of the week when I'll have a vaginal examination. So...we'll see. I'll let you know.

Thanks for all your help and wisdom. You have no need to stay off the board. As you say, you get support from others, and you're able to give support to others. Everyone's a winner, I'd say Smile

fengirl1 · 06/02/2012 14:48

Wow ginger yours must be even bigger than mine to need a double appointment to be thoroughly investigated!!!! (sorry but I really couldn't resist it Wink )
I for one am really glad to have found this thread, it makes me feel not so alone and that I'm not a freak. Just so sad that so many women suffer needlessly.
The ladies who are in here post-op, even if they've had a bumpy road, help me to believe that I can get back to feeling ok with myself and my body. It's also good to be able to have a laugh about it too.
Love to all. X

jackie62 · 06/02/2012 18:24

I've obviously missed something horrible, thank goodness! Was it something I said?!
No idea what the comment was but we have to remember we are all precious and should be able to share shocking experiences on this site and support eachother without a bitter person making us feel bad. It is OUR site and that is the first time that a comment has ever been removed...which says something for the lovely people who have used it on a daily, or less frequent, basis since May 2009.
love to you all, xx

thegingerwhinger · 06/02/2012 20:37

Fengirl It is something that I'm supremely proud of Grin

FiveHoursSleep · 06/02/2012 20:39

I have an appointment with a consultant tomorrow and am really nervous. I'm seeing a woman and initially I thought this would be a good thing, but now I'm wondering if it is? Anyone else had a female consultant?

fengirl1 · 06/02/2012 20:46

Ginger you made me laugh out loud! I was so worried after I posted you might have got offended, so I'm pleased you got my humour. Smile

thegingerwhinger · 06/02/2012 21:01

You're just like me, Fengirl. I make jokes then worry afterwards about causing offence! But rest assured. I'm on a thread discussing my poos and the goings on inside my vagina to people I've never met. If nobody cracked a joke about it from time to time I think I'd go mad!!

surewoman · 06/02/2012 23:15

Fivehours - good luck for tomorrow. Try not to be nervous, you are doing the right thing getting 'investigated'. She will ask all about your symptoms, then have a look with a speculum, have you lie on your left side (no idea why) and as she is a uro/gynae maybe have a look with you standing up and straining. It's not too embarassing really as you just have to remember it's her job and she spends her entire day looking at vaginas!!!
Make a note of anything she says coz with the best will in the world, you will probably get muddled/forget afterwards and it's nice to have something to refer back to. There might be a nurse looking as well (unless that is just when you have a male consultant??). Ask loads of questions, however mundane you think they are... Smile xxxxx If you do have a prolapse, ask what 'grade' it is i.e. 1,2,3 etc. as this gives an indication as to how bad it is.

dudrop2362 · 07/02/2012 08:13

Thanks Footie i must admit i do relate to you, i wish i was as articulate and funny though:)
Surewoman i was given a printout to explain the rectocele and didn't notice till a long time after it said i was grade 3 still don't know which way it works as to how bad it is though? i'm still learning something new every day! thats why we need sites like this and people like you all :)

surewoman · 07/02/2012 10:06

Hi Dudrop - I think grade 3 is 'bad'!!! xxxx
How are you now?
