I am 16 weeks pg btw.

But have terrible rashy skin, no energy, feel quite low and generally feel as though I am about to get flu. Have had cough for weeks too.

Anyway I know a lot of it is prob pg related, but what can I do to try and get a bit of sparkle back? I sleep quite well and eat well (although drinking coca cola atm to help get through the day).

Any tips?

I wish

dh refuses to have central heating on atm and berates us all to wear more jumpers and socks

I do sneak it on before he gets back from work though

I am still being sick every day atm so I could be massively dehydrated. Willt ry lots of water for next few days and see if it helps

The water thing takes 3 or 4 days to work, I found. Good luck. Do you have dry skin anyway?

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:10

no oily normally but quite sensitive

OP posts:
Enid · 10/11/2005 11:11

Blusher
Blusher
Blusher

Er, did I mention blusher? I use Bourjois (sp?) pinky rose and it makes me look alive instead of moonlighting as an extra for The Adams.

Make up in general makes you look better. As for feeling, hmmmmmmm, agree on the water drinking, and fresh fruit and veggies.

You are reminding me why I do not want a third. No I do not. No. No. Hmmmmmm.

enid, get some diaoralyte, you could be short of electrolytes if you're being sick a lot, make some up and try sipping it throughout the day.

@ you sneaking the central heating on...visions of dickensian enid with nightcap on in bed...

Definitely break out the Zita Wests and maybe also probiotics Enid, you poor thing.
My sister always looks radiant on her Eve Lom washcloth routine (keep finding things that look worryingly like Our Lord's loincloth draped over radiators when she visits). And my skin has perked up slightly on a free sample of Origins White Tea stuff.
If you can't stand fruit juice, would knocking up a home-made, fresh, low salt version of V8 appeal? I totally sympathise with the lure of coca-cola but you know it's rubbish really...
Plenty of us are for you having a third, you and Fennel can be assured that not everyone thinks you are masochistic hormonal loons

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:12

trouble is make up is settling in rash - hmm not a good look

wilbur · 10/11/2005 11:13

I just think that preg increases the sensitivity of all things like hair follicles etc, my rashes were a bit pimply, like mild acne overlaid with excema. Ds2 is 3 months now, but if I scratch myself I still get a huge great welt, like I've been whipped. Skin def way oversensitive. Praying it will go when I stop bfing.

bundle · 10/11/2005 11:14

I lived on fat Coke and Hula Hoops during pg

oliveoil · 10/11/2005 11:14

pssst, Boots do a great rip off of the Eve Lom thing, it's £10 a pot. But you don't get that 'aren't I the special one' feeling that you get with Eve Lom.

Clinque are always giving samples away of things and their dry skin stuff is fab, get ye to Boots.

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:14

dh is utterly victorian. comment was made as he glanced momentarily above newspaper as family life crashed around him

funny you should say that about the eve lom marina, I do have half a pot stashed away somewhere (gave up as it took too long) will give it a try.

also oranges v good for skin, at college when i used to survive on 3.5 hrs sleep a night and drank guinness and vast amounts of bacardi and coke I had flawless skin, which i put down to eating 2 or 3 whopping oranges a day. (can't bear them now, sob)

motherinferior · 10/11/2005 11:17

Highly recommend the Boots one and it's on offer atm.

Grove Farm does a rather lovely veg juice.

katierocket · 10/11/2005 11:17

Enid - I had exactly the rash you describe
"sort of pimply and flaky in creases between mouth and nose and on eyelid"

when I was first pregnant. It disappeared after about 18/20 weeks. Also, (sorry if this has been mentioned), can 't DH give you a 'day off' - so he takes the children and you just recouperate in bed for a whole day?

motherinferior · 10/11/2005 11:17

Bundle, that was youth...

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:17

yes could manage veg juice I think

OP posts:
bundle · 10/11/2005 11:18

oh yes MI, yoof, I remember that

motherinferior · 10/11/2005 11:19

The tomato and carrot one has a bit of salt in but it's yebby yebby tasty according to DD2 who snaffled some of mine this morning.

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:19

ha kr!

I did suggest that. He didn't even make eye contact, just raised an eyebrow and said 'ha'

katierocket · 10/11/2005 11:20

HOnestly I think a day in bed with a good book and radio 4 would really do you the world of good. You're carrying his child it's the least he can do.

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:21

what I might do is take a day off sick next week and get him to take the girls to respective schools. Then I'll manage until school pick up in bed on my own.

OP posts:
katierocket · 10/11/2005 11:21

yes that's a good plan.

Enid · 10/11/2005 11:24

I cant tell him though otherwise he will book alarm test, chimney sweep, carpenter etc to come on that day, overexcited that someone will be in

Mercy · 10/11/2005 11:28

Poor you. I'm sure the morning sickness isn't helping. Are you getting enough rest?

Lemonade would be better than coke.
