Manuka honey - it's amazing stuff!

Thought I'd share this with you. It cured dd's molloscum in two weeks flat (the cream)and I recently sent a pot of the edible strong stuff to dh's grandmother, who had a leg wound that just wouldn't heal. She's been eating three teaspoons a day for nearly three weeks and guess what?! Leg is completely healed. Thoroughly recommend it!

assumpta, the +5 should be enough for blister/mouth ulcer etc. a spoonful 4 times a day, hold in mouth for a few minutes before swallowing.
or u could try some tea tree or aloe vera mouthwash.

hub2dee · 14/11/2005 19:12

There is a pile of info here . I had a meeting with Rowse honey and their Manuka honey has been tested in New Zealand to around 18 on the 'activation' / potency scale apparently. It is only labelled at 10+ (possibly because of the difference in the way countries test ???) but is only about a third of the cost of other potent manukae (sp ? LOL). May be worth checking out all you honey fiends !

assumpta · 15/11/2005 10:59

Right, I put the honey on last night on my dd molloscum spots and waited, and waited and waited... No change whatsoever. I have checked them again this morning and they look exactly the same. I will do the same again this evening and see what happens. It is actual honey that is in this tube,a golden colour, not cream. Dinny was yours an actual cream or the same as this?

gloworm · 15/11/2005 11:19

remedies work quickly for some people and take longer for others. you may see a difference in a couple of days...or it may take a few weeks.
I would use it for 3 or 4 weeks, or longer if you still have some left. If still no change then try something else.

Does it contain tea tree oil?
if not I would mix in a couple of drops to the cream everytime you use it. (need 100% pure essential oil)

assumpta · 15/11/2005 18:02

Right gloworm, I will add some tea tree oil this evening and keep watching. Thanks

dinny · 15/11/2005 18:04

I put this cream on them, Assumpta thetoponehere

Inspired by this thread, and to be honest, willing to try anything, I have started taking Manuka Honey - eating a few spoonfuls of 10+ a day ( 3 or 4 usually ). I have had a persistant and recurring cold virus for over three months, feeling very run down, occasional upset stomach. I have been taking the honey since last Saturday, and can honestly say I have not felt this well for a long time. Is this just a coincidence? Is it too soon to tell if it is really helping? One thing is concerning me though, I'm 6 months pregnant - is it safe to consume copious amounts of honey in pregnancy? I'm reluctant to stop taking it now, as I feel so good. One more question - it says that only honey over 10+ has "usefulness" - so is it pointless to take the 5+?

dinny · 17/11/2005 21:55

Rosieposie, think it's most helpful in 15+ potency. Not sure if OK in preg tho can't see why it wouldn't be...

well it's had 2 applications - no results yet but we're going to give it a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed

gloworm · 18/11/2005 09:35

RosiePosie, I have used honey (regular and manuka) during pregnancy. I have also used Bioforce echinacea for colds and for a nasty bout of food poisoning.
Also taking acidophilus/good bacteria can help with colds etc, and they are good for baby too.

daisy1999 · 22/11/2005 12:42

assumpta - any results yet?

assumpta · 22/11/2005 13:17

Daisy, I have been away, so my husband has been in charge of applying it. The only difference I have noticed this morning is that there appears to be more of a rash appearing around the molluscum spots. I hope that this isn't going to flare into some more actual spots. I am going to have a really good look this evening after bath and see what the situation is.

Have you noticed any improvement??

By the way I am using the same one as Dinny. Is that what you have?

daisy1999 · 22/11/2005 16:27

ASSUMPTA I'll have a good look tonight but rather worryingly I think I noticed the same thing (a rash) around my dd's spots. I hope we haven't been spreading it while we were putting the cream on! I'll let you know. It is the same cream by the way.

PrincessSmartyPants · 22/11/2005 16:49

Just a note of caution- my dd got terrible eczema around her molluscum spots which spread outwards from each spot and really only cleared up with a lot of steroid cream. Ds has very different spots- just isolated on his back.

daisy1999 · 22/11/2005 16:51

PSP what caused the excema? (anything we can do or not do to prevent it?)

daisy1999 · 26/11/2005 18:14

any change yet assumpta?

TinyGang · 28/11/2005 21:55

Bumping this thread as I've been watching with interest. Any news yet assumpta and daisy?

Dd has excema, dry skin and now a molluscum rash has broken out too so she has been prescribed AB's as it's become quite sore

daisy1999 · 01/12/2005 12:19

we are perservering but no results as yet

assumpta · 09/01/2006 12:56

Sorry that I haven't posted on this for so long, but we have undertaken major house renovations and our computer had taken a back seat.

Right, I did the manuka honey,
the manuka cream,
the manuka oil and have tried to remove them one by one. They are still there. My dd had one on the side since the beginning. Although it seemed to burst at one point it never really went away. One evening over christmas I decided to see if anything would come out of it with gentle squeezing. After a tiny squeeze some soft white waxy stuff came out. I squeezed again, and my word, I couldn't believe the size of a thing I managed to remove. It was like a whole string of hard waxy molluscum balls joined together. About 7-8 in total. I started to worry at one point that I wouldn't be able to get it all out. There was a hole left there when I had finished. As you can imagine it was quite painful for dd, but she really was a star. This was definately the first spot ever to appear. I then bathe the wound in antiseptic and covered with manuka cream and a plaster. It was good as new abt 36 hours later. My worry was, would it have kept growing inwards, as the outer spot hadn't got bigger. Anyway, still trying with the others, but no real improvement. I would love to have seen yours Dinny. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I have not seen anything like you did.

codthemod · 09/01/2006 12:56
