Thought I'd share this with you. It cured dd's molloscum in two weeks flat (the cream)and I recently sent a pot of the edible strong stuff to dh's grandmother, who had a leg wound that just wouldn't heal. She's been eating three teaspoons a day for nearly three weeks and guess what?! Leg is completely healed. Thoroughly recommend it!

Oooh do let us know Enid.

Serah · 08/11/2005 11:06

MMmmmmm... honey in milk sounds good!

at excema flare up for you. Hope the honey touches it

Enid · 08/11/2005 11:27

am pg so hoping baby wont turn out like Timothy West in that Roald Dahl story (eg a bumble bee)

dinny · 08/11/2005 21:54

You need really high UMF honey for it to be realy effective (apparently!). I got mine from here

MrsDoolittle, not really sure how it could have been more effective for my dh's granny as her leg wound healed! When I ordered it I spoke to the supplier and she said the best efficacy was to be had by applying topically and ingesting some too. My dd refused point blank to eat any though, so just used the cream (manuka honey with tea tree) on her molloscum.

I'm trying to eat some every day atm as my 14 month old has had some health probs and I'm still bfing him. Hoping it may do something to help.

sorry to ber stupid but i couldn't see if its ok to give my 14 month ds manuka honey on the link. Dinny, do you give it to yours? Have you noticed it helping when you eat it and bfeed him?

gloworm · 09/11/2005 19:08

as far as I know honey is fine from 12 months upwards (unless this advice has changed in the last year)

Papillon · 09/11/2005 19:36

Manuka comes as oil, just like Tea tree - so you can avoid ingestion worries if baby is under 12 months.

It is great stuff, but very strong so needs to be diluted.

geekgrrl · 09/11/2005 19:44

you can get sterilised manuka honey, I guess that would be ok for babies under 1? Obviously not something you'd want to risk without expert advice though!!
Have a look at dinny's link, the lady who runs the shop was very helpful and seems to be very knowledgable.

moondog · 09/11/2005 20:09

Iammore familiar with the idea of honey being applied dirsctly to the wound,dinny.

When I grew up in the Pacific,local people would often apply the skin (with plenty of flesh on it) of a pawpaw to an ulcer. It contains papain,which is an enzyme which tenderises meat. We would also wipe the skins over our face as a facemeask.

Serah, it's this horrible virus thing that lasts for ages - there are little white spots filled with gunk. DD had it for about a year and then I put the honey cream on and they (almost straight away) kind of popped, bled a bit and then went! AMAZING, you could see them being zapped as you watched!
yes, I've given it to ds who is 14 months, Ruty (though didn't till he was a year old, as with any honey).

ruty · 11/11/2005 12:57

that's amazing dinny - may try it on my ds - thanks.

assumpta · 11/11/2005 17:04

Dinny, this sounds fantastic. I have been looking for something for my dd molluscum and have been using tea tree oil neat on the spots for the last week. It cleared up the ones that had popped but no change on the others. Did it really act that quickly? How long after applying it did you cover them up? What happened after they popped did they just bleed and then scab over?

wavingordrowning · 11/11/2005 17:45

Living Nature do a Manuka oil and honey antiseptic gel which we have found to be brilliant. dd is prone to skin infections and I dab on a bit of this gel at the first sign of anything suspicious. No infections for a year now (touch wood). They also do a rich night cream for general moisturising purposes (has been good on excema). The living nature link is \link{http://www.livingnature.com}

bobbybob · 11/11/2005 17:49

Ds had two sores around his mouth, one always got coated in manuka honey as he ate his breakfast and healed - the other hasn't. This has reminded me to rub a bit on the other sore - thanks.

assumpta · 11/11/2005 19:05

Dinny, I have gone on site, can you tell me exactly which product you purchased. As it worked so well, I will try that one.

dinny · 11/11/2005 19:49

Assumpta, actually, I now think I may have ordered from the following website, not the one I orginally said (think I looked at that one!) Sorry, crap memory! Anyway, the top one is the cream I used (the lady who runs the website recommended it) - Skinclear. `link{http://www.xynergy.co.uk/xynergysite/pages/product/product.asp?ctgry=HairBodycare_Comvita+Skin+Care&cookie%5Ftest=1\skinclear}
I just dabbed it on the molloscum but didn't cover them or anything. It was amazing - they would start to burst/bleed a bit within a few minutes of cream going on...
Call the number on that website, the woman that runs it is really nice and helpful.

gloworm · 12/11/2005 09:43

i had a look at that website, for anyone who is interested Comvita is usually regarded as the main/leading brand of manuka, although it is usually a bit more expensive than other good brands.
you can get comvita stuff from a GOOD healthshop (maybe not holland barett}

assumpta · 12/11/2005 18:00

Thank you so much, I will ring and order it asap. Did it take long to be delivered?

daisy1999 · 12/11/2005 18:21

dinny are you on commission
I just ordered some

dinny · 12/11/2005 20:57

Assumpta, think it was not more than 48 hours.... Let us know how you get on! Fingers crossed!

Daisy, noooooo - just amazed how well it worked and wanted to SHARE!! Lockets can testify how beautiful and clear dd's skin (hers were mainly on the back of one leg) is now!

Did you speak to the nice woman on phone?

OP posts:
daisy1999 · 14/11/2005 13:37

dinny I didn't talk to the lady on the phone I just ordered it on line. Will let you know how it goes.

assumpta · 14/11/2005 15:53

Dinny, I managed to get it from my fantastic local health shop. It is Manukacare 18+. Is this the same? It is the Comvita range. I am so excited about trying it this evening on my daughter. How sad is that?

I now have another query, I have developed some really nasty sores or blisters on the inside of my mouth do you think the ordinary Manuka Honey would help this? Maybe Gloworm would know?

daisy1999 · 14/11/2005 17:56

I'm excited too - how sad is this
