panic attacks / chronic anxiety?

I think I'm going slightly crazy to be honest. I've got a thread elsewhere about a headache I've had now for just over 3 weeks. I've had lots of tests and now GP thinks it must be a tension headache. I've also got pins and needles in my feet almost all the time and my vision keeps going blurry. Last night I woke up after just 30 minutes sleep in a total state of panic. I thought I was having a heart attack as my chest was so heavy, heart pounding, covered in sweat and filled with a sense of dread. In the end I got about 3 hours sleep at most. Now I feel absolutely awful. I've got a 3 year old and am on my own.

Has anyone else been through this kind of thing? Does it sound like chronic anxiety? I'm so frightened ...

Can your gp let you wear a heart monitor at home?

If this persists go to a and e as sometimes just medical reassurance is enough to stop them I have done this several time and as soon as they have done an ecg 99% of the time I feel ok but they won't mind.

madmarchhare · 10/11/2005 16:11

twik, do you think you could go back to see your GP and discuss the ADs again?

yULeYSEES · 11/11/2005 12:09

What did I miss? Hope you're ok twik? xx

twik · 11/11/2005 12:41

Yule, I'm glad you posted. I thought everyone would be furious with me. I only asked for posts to be deleted that mentioned a different name. I never saw what melsy wrote last.

I feel awful, yule, really truly awful. My head is pounding I can't think straight. Dp is under massive pressure at the moment and I can't bear to add this to him. I'm at work today and can barely focus my eyes.

ahh sorry twik Ive forgotten wot I wrote.

It just felt weird seeing all my posts deleted! but I would have done the same. I get totally confused using suedonims and have often forgotten when chnage back!!!

Im sorry yuor having a hard day today. I got signed off work for 2 weeks many years ago , when at my low point. Fortunately , (well not fortunately as i was having constant periods), doctor used another ailment I had and used that on the note.

yULeYSEES · 11/11/2005 13:04

Do you think the strain dp is under could be causing your panic? We have big problems to re: dh and his old firm and this causes mine. He's been on trial due to tax problems that his old boss blames on him and has to go to retrial in jan We've had 4 years of this and it's been awful. It definitely adds to my panic attacks. And it hanging over us makes it linger.

Try to meditate, even if it's in the loo for 5mins. Imagine the brightest white light going through your crown and healing you. It does work, honest but you have to give it time. Hugs xx

Yes, dp's stress has definitely had a major impact on me. With luck this should start to ease around Christmas time and I'm really really hoping that my anxiety will feel easier then too. Today my head is so painful and tight. I've had a stack of painkillers but nothing's working.

Sounds like a tension headache then if nothing's shifting it. Are you drinking plenty of water?

melsy · 11/11/2005 14:45

I found indian head massage amazing for releaving tension, just make sure you drink loads of water.

Deep relaxation is also going to be the best thing for tension.

twik · 11/11/2005 15:03

How do I start this deep relaxation then? I don't think I do drink enough water. I'm seeing a physiotherapist again on Tuesday which should help if it's a tension headache, no?

How are you doing twik ?

Deep relaxation will come eventually , just 1st find a way to calm your body and mind in a bath doing some deep breathing and listening to really soothing instrumental music (look at my link further down).Have you tried the breathing excersise? I think its described in the no panic web site.

Its just a matter of being more aware of yuor breathing and teaching yuorself to slow it down. Hold your hand flat on either yuor chest or above yuor naval or both and breathe in pushing yuor hand out and then breathe out and feel your hand lowering , do this several times until you feel a slight change and calmness. Put post it notes all round yuor home wiht the word BREATHE and make sure every time yuo see them, do the excersise I suggested. What this does is programme it to become habit.

It will feel odd at 1st as you become concious of soemthing we all take for granted, it may feel uncomfortable even , but with repetition it will then feel more and more relaxing. Eventually it will take less and less time to calm yuor mind and body.Just master that intially and that will benefit you in panic moments also.

U ok twik?

Bexsymo · 10/02/2019 12:02

Hi guys. I’ve been suffering with really bad anxiety and panic attacks and they just seem to be getting worse. I have diazepam for the really big ones and am also on 125mg of sertraline but I’m wanting to increase the dosage, I was just wondering if there’s any success stories from increasing the dosage. I want my life back!!
