Not too keen on digestives myself - compressed sawdust? They can do what they like to them! (but still ewww)

Hi Sparkle! Any good news?

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 14:14

No no send her here to Herts with her admirable biscuit stash (if she hasn't pigged THE LOT by now!) I promise not to speak to her. (Now I've had the steroid she won't want me to....waffle turns up 3 notches)

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 14:20

In fact no, not really, I won't be able to stop myself from rabbitting on to her will I? This is three posts in a row.....

Maybe if I stuffed my mouth full of biscuits? Smile

smee · 01/04/2011 14:21

Arf.. Grin

Cakesandale · 01/04/2011 14:34

Give it up! The biscuits are looooong gone, OK?

Years ago I worked on a PR contract for Cadbury's Biscuits and we used to sponsor the Star Letter on the letters pages of several magazines: we used to send a nice wicker hamper of assorted biscuits and champagne. it was my job to make up the hampers, and I regularly used to make myself ill (well, I needed to check they were fresh, didn't I?)

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 14:38

And here's poor li'l me, on chemo, only had a measly Twix finger! Shock

Did you have to check the champagne was fresh too? Grin Nice job!!

Cakesandale · 01/04/2011 14:39

Orange Creams were the nicest (and also the ones easiest to overdo it on)

The funniest episode in my young life was when I sent a hamper to an address that turned out to be on a military base (you couldn't tell from the address). It arrived unannounced and they were so worried they took it out onto the range and blew it up as a suspected terrorist bomb.

I never found out what they said to my boss when they phoned, but she usually had a very good sense of humour, and I couldn't persuade her to see the funny side of that one. I, on the other hand, nearly lost control of my bladder.

Cakesandale · 01/04/2011 14:39

No, sadly no champagne checks Sad

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 14:44

Grin Cakes that's a great tale, and so funny - I too wonder what kind of bollocking she got to make her lose her sense of humour?? Grin

Am firmly switching the PC OFF now, you'll all be glad to know, off to get DC from school soon.

smee · 01/04/2011 14:45

What a waste of biscuits. Not to mention champagne. Grin Top job, Cakes.

Cakesandale · 01/04/2011 14:47
SparkleRainbow · 01/04/2011 16:33

Shocking waste of biscuits and champagne! An excellent job to have, I would be the size of a house, given how little will power I have these days Grin

Nope no news LJ. I have had an email back from Director of Ed saying her underling is handling it as we speak.......not apologising through even though my email directly pointed out I was still waiting for an apology from her!!! Really am not pulling any punches at the moment. End of play on Monday looms......if they think they are calling my bluff they will discover I am not bluffing Hmm Will be opening the Wine tonight to fortify myself, will settle for a Brew in the meantime......and a orange club..... cakes?

KurriKurri · 01/04/2011 17:18

Phew back from town - managed to get my gift shopping done - wlaking rounf the city makes my legs ache - I'm more used to walking on grass (and carpets Grin).

I caught sight of myself in a shop window and after the initial 'who's that short fat old woman - oh its me' reaction - I noticed my trouser's look about 3 inches too short Confused - my legs can't have grown longer, and I've had these trousers for ages, so shrinking doesn't seem likely - so its a mystery, and I look ridiculous.

GrinGrin at the exploding parcel story Cakes.

Sparkle I hope you get news soon, you are right not to pull any punches with them Angry on your behalf.

LJ - I had the injections too - I stuck mine in my stomach too. They do help - so hopefully they will put Figgy on them if necessary.

I am laughing at ''waffle waffle chemo brain waffle'' Grin - rabbit away LJ, and tuck yourself up with a stash of goodies.

Now I need to walk the dog, water the plants, and then get on with the poster. DH can make tea, its only stir fry Grin

SparkleRainbow · 01/04/2011 17:56

Little elves shortening your trousers Kurri? If they can make shoes I am sure they can do turn ups too.

SparkleRainbow · 01/04/2011 18:46

After a flurry of activity yesterday and today, it has all gone very quiet on here.....I am starting to wonder if I have become a thread killer Grin

Seriously, hope you are all having as lovely an evening as possible. I shall be opening the wine in a bit if anyone feels up to joining me, my aim is to fall asleep by 8.30 in the arm chair, might as well aim for this 'tis what I am going to do anyway! Grin

pinkstarlight · 01/04/2011 19:16

LJB... no one told me about taking the steroids on a empty stomach,i hope you feel better soon.

SMEE...i have been feeling really out of it must be the steroids then.

cakes... omg hope your friends daughter is ok,must be so upsetting for your friend.

kurri... i will ask next time i go to hospital about something for constipation.

sparkle...enjoy your snooze in the chair and glass of wine.

lol at all you ladies and your biscuits i cant eat anything sweet at the moment but today i have been flying round on a steak mission trying to find myself a nice bit of juicey steak, its like being pregnant having cravings for certain food but it also means im feeling better today. got a big spot come up under my eye though has anyone experienced this.

sandripples · 01/04/2011 19:49

Pink - I really craved neat and chicken etc while on chemo too - think the body is telling you to help it build new healthy cells!
Off now for a night and day in Cambridge. Hi all and have a good w/e

SparkleRainbow · 01/04/2011 19:55

Ooo jealous would love to go back to cambridge, got invited for an alumni reunion, but chance of going is nonexistant with ds. Heh ho I can dream of those heady days....actually no I can't as I have forgotten them all. Early onset dementia or too much Wine?

smee · 01/04/2011 20:13

Sparkle The Thread Killer has a certain ring to it. Grin Am liking the sound of Kurri's elves. Could do with some of those round here. Do they clean bathrooms Kurri? Send a few this way if they do.

Pink, the urge for biscuits will soon return. You only have to read our drivle to be reassured on that front. Grin I didn't get the steak craving. Think SR's right, though, go with it. Spot under eye's probably your skin reacting to the drugs. I had a lot of hives, rashes, things such as that. They tended to go quite quickly though, so hopefully yours will too.

Have a good day in Cambridge, SR. Happy weekend to all others. Especially those of you mid chemo. Smile

Hi irishbird - I'm really sorry your mum has been through all this Sad
I'm afraid i don't know anything about aromasin (I'm on tamox.) but it sounds as if your mum has been messed around a bit by the hospital. If it were me, I would contact the oncologists secretary and ask for an appointment soon. (There should be oncs. around all the time for emergency appointments in her chemo unit). Do you live near her? would it be possible for you to go with her and do a bit of pushing on her behalf,?

Wishing her all the best for her scan, and hope they can sort out the cramps.

Oh - also - I would maybe start a thread specifically for aromasin -someone ,might know a bit more about it.

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 22:52

Irishbird - there is a leaflet on Aromasin on the Breast Cancer Care website here. Under 'Less common side effects' it says: 'These include stomach pain, skin rashes, loss of appetite, indigestion, constipation, negative feelings and depression.' Hope this is helpful. x

LimeJellyforBrains · 01/04/2011 23:22

Having had trouble propping my eyelids open all day I fell asleep on the sofa about 8.30pm. Woke up at 10pm. Feel nice and refreshed now! Angry

Hope Sparkle and Cakes are enjoying their Wine (useless addressing Sparkle I know as she is more like Sparko in her chair now...) Not sure if I dare risk a glass. Didn't drink for a week last time.

Kurri hope the poster is going (or better still went?) well, should think you're also sparko now after your busy day! Well deserved....

Pink I'm so cross for you they didn't tell you to eat before the steroids! It's even printed on my bottle label! Hope that makes a difference for you from here on Smile. I didn't fancy anything sweet last time, didn't eat an awful lot first few days to be honest. Different this time!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/04/2011 09:19

woah !! I'm away for a day and now look ! I can't catch up just at the mo, but from what I've seen LJ has been feeling rotten, poor love-hope you feel better soon; KK has done a poster and birthday gift shopping,Cakes is back with talk of chocolate biscuits and praise for lovely dds and dss by teachers -yay !
And welcome to Irishbird too -

My day was exhausting as i seemed to walk miles - the exhibition is wonderful and highly recommend it - some fabulous work there-would love to go again.
Met in the Nat.Gallery Cafe-had a sandwich and then to the Tate (everyone went off with out me-to be fair they don't know me as they were friends of the birthday boy and my particular friends were meeting us there)

I took the tube to Pimlico while they virtuously walked and we both arrived at about the same time- they were a little smug-I was a bit peeved that they hadn';t waited for me-I told them I was just going to the loo-grr)

My friends were all waiting at the Tate on the wrong floor so I went into the exhibition on my own and looked around, eventually finding them at last -so we had a lovely time then walking around together, before walking a very circuitous way to a pub near Birdcage Walk following a friend's phone app- an A to Z would have been far easier.
Had nice time at the pub and left just after 8 to get my train at Waterloo- home at ten. Knackered !
Finishing a picture today I hope and dh painting ds's bedroom
love to all xx

Hi MAS - bit of a mixed day there then? Sorry for the disappointing bits - well done for coping, would have thrown anyone even without anxieties! But YAY for the lovely exhibition - really must go - and your lovely friends and pub! Smile

Don't bother trying to catch up with my steroid-fuelled drivel from yesterday Wink. I was worried that you might have to start Tamoxifen 10 in order to tell us about your trip! xx
