DS 2 (18 months) had his mmr wednesday, today he has been shaking (as if very cold) but feels normal, apart from hands and feet which are like blocks of ice, he's shivering and keeps going v v v v pale - should I be worried - I have done the calpol thing, also, he hasn't eaten today - and I mean nothing! (had one or too bottles though)??

phone nhs direct would be my advise, its probably a reaction to the vaccination, but I would opt to get some proper medical advice tbh

Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 20:28

|Not sure if it would be realted to the MMR but would def call the NHS line to be 100% certain

Hope he's ok xx

NHS Direct is 0845 4647

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:32

Defo ring NHs Direct. Even if just to be on the safe side.

DD reacted to MMR within 24-48 hours. It is possible. Ring NHS Direct and if you get no where phone your GP's emergency number.

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:38

i'm pissed off because I took him even though he had a runny nose, I said to the nurse that I wasn't sure he should have it incase he was coming down with a cold and she said not to worry, it was just a runny nose.......

The hazard of a low uptake area and takin ghim late (I think they are too little for all those bugs at a year)

just looked in at him, he's asleep but lips are tinged with blue.....off to phone NHS direct - if there was a very worried face I'd put it!

OP posts:
Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:40

Have you called them then?

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:40

Xposted.
Defo get on to the phone to them now. Blue lips are not good

Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 20:42

go, ring them now. If they say they will get someone to ring you back tell them it's urgent and you need to speak to someone asap so they ring you back quicker.

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:42

on the phone to them now

If his lips are going blue he is short of oxygen - I'd take him straight to hospital, sod NHS Direct.

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:43

Make sure you tell them his lips are slightly blue.

I think they may tell you to get up casualty ASAP.

Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 20:44

yes def. If they can't advise you quick enough just go to hosp. Can you get there?

chicagomum · 20/10/2005 20:45

when my sister phoned nhs direct when her dd had blue tinged lips, they said to take here to a&e straigth away (its one of the key phrases to alert them apparently - my cousin works for the nhs call center) when they got het there she was put on oxygen and perked right up.

LIZS · 20/10/2005 20:46

His illness could be coincidental but don't think you can be too careful. dd was ill within a day of mmr but also showed the symptoms you describe with bronchiolitis which is very common. Hope he is ok.

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:47

S&T, i think you should just get up to A&E. Can you get there OK?

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:50

Have spoken to them, am waiting on a call back, lips are looking better, I think I'm looking too hard?

he's sleeping like a baby now (yes, I know he is one!) but still responing if I touch him so I'm notworried on that score.

if he's not had the mmr I wouldn't have even worried, (well, I would, but not to this extent!)

OP posts:
Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 20:52

Is he feeling any warmer?

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:52

dp not in and have no one to stay woth ds 1, so I can get there, but would have to wake up ds 1 (whos nearly 3).

BTW, I could chuck a stone at a & e from my house - so its not too much of an issue re- time getting there if there is a problem and NHS direct think I should go

OP posts:
Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:53

TBH, I would be tempted to take him anyway just to be sure but I probably overreact with these type of things.
Let us know what they say.

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:53

not quite so cold on the hads, can't feel toes as he's in a grow bag

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 20:54
