DS 2 (18 months) had his mmr wednesday, today he has been shaking (as if very cold) but feels normal, apart from hands and feet which are like blocks of ice, he's shivering and keeps going v v v v pale - should I be worried - I have done the calpol thing, also, he hasn't eaten today - and I mean nothing! (had one or too bottles though)??

Aww poor little mite. I think if NHS were going to send you to a&e they'd have done it straight off. (Although that's just my assumption - they did it with us once) Have you taken his temp?

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 20:58

DD had a red blotchy rash all over her, was completely out of character, kept losing her balance etc, i was terrified. Took NHS Direct 4 hours to ring me back, then told me to go straight to casualty - ERRRRR Bit late for that one .
This was about 3 days after her MMR, turned out it was a reaction to the jab.

Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 21:00

I take it back - thats ridiculous SC!!

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 21:02

they told me it will be about 3 hours, unless the person in charge thinks its bad and then will pass me on quicker.

His breathings fine?

What did they do for a jab reaction sc?

Absolutely nothing - just told me to keep giving her calpol to keep her temperature down.
I seriously cannot believe the response time for a baby is bloody 3 hours - how ridiculous .

I know your not stupid S&T but just keep an extremely close eye on him and if he starts deteriorating or lips get blue again, get him straight to A&E. Could a neighbour sit with DS1 if you needed to go?

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 21:09

yea, I have nice neighbours

You wonder the point in going though, how many times have they done that too me, got me down there and then told me to bugger off

last time was ds2, I thought he had hurt his shoulder fallig at the park, they told me no, 4 days later he was still screaming in agony everytime I picked him up and so I took him back, fractured colar bone I was told! a week later I took him to fracture clinic and was told......NO FRACTURE -

do you have a drs on call service. Sometimes they ring back faster.

Zephyrrywitchescat · 20/10/2005 21:15

They're useless sometimes aren't they? Go with your instincts and if you'd feel more comfortable taking him to hosp then just go. If anything for your own peace of mind. Keep an eye on his temperature. Even if he's been cold it can go up quickly if he's poorly - but also make sure it's not below what it should be.

megandsoph · 20/10/2005 21:17

if he gets even slightly worse hun, take your other little one with you and get an ambulance. your ds will be seen to straight away also.

had to do this a couple of month back when dd2 asthma came on at 2 in the morning and dp was away with the car.

megandsoph · 20/10/2005 21:18

and had to take dd1 with us in her jim jams

fairi · 20/10/2005 21:18

I just went to a very enlightening talk today by a Medical doctor and Homeopath... they spoke about the problems with MMR - and said that there are homeopathic remedies which can correct the problems caused by this vaccine.

sickandtired · 20/10/2005 21:39

night x

Hope he gets better

nutcackle · 20/10/2005 21:44

I am really surpsised they haven't called you back sooner.

I once called them when Ds had either croup or a viral infection and had a blue tinge around his mouth.
They called me back almost immeidatly and insisted I take him to A&E, they even wanted to call an ambulance.

Hope your Ds is better soon xx

Springchicken · 20/10/2005 21:48

Hope he's better soon S&T

katylou25 · 20/10/2005 22:14

shocked by nhs directs reaction. we rang last month when ds (7 months then) was violently sick and then seemed to be slightly struggling to draw a proper breath. Nurse rang back within 5 mins, and had an ambulance with us in the next 5 - Ds then cheered up and made a ,miraculous revovery and starts babllling and grining at ambulance men but i thought the way they treated it was great.

sickandtired · 21/10/2005 07:12

they phoned back at 11.15! By which time we were both fast asleep!

He woke up once and was boiling, gave him some medicine and he seems fine this morning. I am going to take the morning off work (only work p/t) so I can keep my beedy eye on him.
