Anyone else got experience of this. It's driving me nuts and I have no idea how she just keeps getting this. She has constant problems with her 'minnie' and I don't know what to do to help her. She's just had a course of Trimethroprim (sp) a few weeks ago, which seemed to clear it up, but it has just returned. Next available appointment is Friday, unless we ring up for an emergency one in the morning and go through the whole triage over the phone process.......yawn. Why can't they just give you an emergency one when it's clear she needs to be seen!? That means I will call at 9am, the nurse won't call me until near 11am and then if she thinks dd deserves to be seen, we will perhaps get an appointment tomorrow sometime. Forgive the rant........I'm just so fed up with this and feel so helpless!

My mother used to find doctors / opticians etc obstructive because I am an only child - therefore she was obviously an over-attentive mother. Very patronising - and extremely unprofessional, given my kidney / bladder problems and the fact that I needed glasses at the age of five too.

My current surgery kicked up a fuss about doing me a prescription for intramuscular vitamin k last week, requested by my midwife - because 'the baby isn't registered with us'. No sh*t. That would be because it hasn't been born yet. You could hear the penny audibly drop when the midwife said that. If it had just been the receptionist, it wouldn't have been so bad - but this was the duty doctor.

If your daughter gets another infection after this, I'd raise holy hell to get a referral to a urologist (particularly if there isn't any follow up this time).

No worries.

tbh, that's what I'm thinking of asking for anyway as dd has now had three infections now and is often sore in between times. If she thinks that's un-necessary, then I'll ask how many infections should she have before we'd get a referral. For no other reason than to rule out anything more serious than a wiping issue!

It's not just the pain and discomfort with this kind of thing, is it?? Not sleeping affects all aspects of one's day. And if she's ill / in pain / uncomfortable, she's missing school and so on (and then you're playing catch up, missing out on social things). You'd think the GP would realise this.

Anyway - I'd be interested to know what the GP's take is, next time you see her. I'm hoping to go into labour shortly, so may not reply immediately, but do post. I hope she's feeling better with the Trimethoprim.
