I have had a horrible tatse in my mouth since Sunday. It seems to be coming from either side of my tongue about halfway down my mouth. It really is foul, a sort of bitter, burny, metallic taste & nothing will shift it.I've tried flossing, mints, mouthwash,TCP,throat sweets & Bonjela but they just seems to make it worse.I am struggling to eat aything because everything tastes so nasty & makes me feel sick.

I've booked a dentist appt for tomorrow to see if she can find out what it is.It is driving me crazy, does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing it?

Thanks.

Back from the dentists now.She said that one of my fillings is 'leaking' & could well be causing the nasty taste. She said it may not be the cause, but couldn't see anything else that might be the reason.I am booked in to have it replaced, but not til next Weds,so will have to put up with it til then.

I'm surprised how disappointed I still feel that the pregnancy test was negative though.

Thanks again for all the kind words & support.

The other thing which could bring it on is stress (new baby and all). I had a horrible metallic taste in my mouth last year, despite brushing, flossing etc. My dentist referred me to the Eastman Dental hospital in London, but despite a thorough going over, including saliva samples, they couldn't find anything wrong. It was suggested that it was 'psychogenic'. Which is not to say that it wasn't real - just that my brain was a bit confused about perception. She asked me if I had been stressed - and it is true to say that it started not long before my wedding, with parentals carping from the sidelines etc.

The remedy suggested was to take anti-depressants, which I didn't fancy. Ironically, despite rumours of metallic tastes being common in pregnancy, it's gone away each time I've got pregnant.
