Has anyone ever had hypnotherapy?

I did once. It was very subtle and gentle. Good though.

The therapist was giving me some new tools to use for certain situations with which I had been coping badly.

I found the tools very useful.

i have - it was good but not a long term solution unfortunately.

Had it to give up smoking, and it lasted 3 months

Very relaxing and very calm..... a lot of history taken down before hypno started

I did for goingt o the dentist - it did help - but I didn't like it much (I think i'm too much of a control freak)

I have - to give up smoking.

It's not so much about being in someone else's control as someone else helping you to re-prioritise conflicting thoughts (eg. the wish not to smoke vs wanting a fag).

Actually i don't think it would have worked had he not been a friend who was in training and using me as a test case, but that's not unusual - the prices are quite high and some hypnotists deliberately re-arrange appointments just to give you extra motivation.

It did alleviate the withdrawal symptoms though - it wasn't too bad at all. and though i smoke again now, i have permanently lost one of the things i hated about smoking and that was my total and utter reliance on it. I never used to be able to go on an plane without being a nervous wreck at the other end - i can now.

I was always fully aware of what was happening. It was just very, very relaxing. More like meditation really.
I was in that place in my mind where I'm half awake and half asleep. Very pleasant.

Well ive been very up and down, miserable, for the past few months and it dawned on me that i could actually pinpoint it to the time of being hypnotised.
Relaxed was all I felt.

LOL, I did, and I have battled with myself that it wasnt stopping that has made me grim
On new years eve or was it day, I was crying wishing myself dead. Not my most normal behaviour, was fine the next day. Have had a few moments like that since.

giving up smoking can change the way your body deals with food - that's why people snack when they give up. if you're anything like me, it could be that that's caused it - doesn't mean you have to start smoking again, but eating good things (fruit etc especially) more regularly may help. seriously - i get like that when I haven't eaten for a while and it was 10x worse when i was a non smoker.

I was very down for weeks, possibly months after I stopped smoking. It was almost like grieving a lost friend.

Id stopped loads of time previous;y, just failed by sytarting again. Never had suicidal thoughts before though.
