Thanks for the info, Twiglett. Wish it was held nearer me!! Dh was in Africa last week and didn't have a twinge from an ankle that's really been playing up. He got home Sat am and was back to aches & pains by the afternoon.

Twiglett · 22/08/2005 17:24

Fio .. do you want to talk?

is it skin or joint pain he's having problems with

when you say 2nd type do you mean a different form? (I know a link where you can see pics if you want)

OP posts:
Fio2 · 22/08/2005 17:27

its differnt form twiglett

he has typical plaque on his elbows, knees, hair, behind ears etc

but this is very close to the skin iykwim and gets infected. he gets infection in the psoriasis and joint pain. its all hideous, if i am honest but you knwo aswell

Twiglett · 22/08/2005 17:36

Dh has had the guttate version too. The dr at our surgery was most impressed and called his collegues to come and have a butchers! He also has the grotty nails - only two nails unaffected now.

Btw, you're welcome, Twiglett, re the other thread.

Twiglett · 22/08/2005 18:29

DH's rheumy recommended dovobet on nail beds .. rub it in once a day and around 6 months you will have new nails

unfortunately it irritated DH's skin to much to continue

dovobet on prescription of course

OP posts:
suedonim · 23/08/2005 14:23

Oh poo, wish I'd seen this earlier as dh has just been to the dr and could have asked for Dovobet. No chance of getting him there again - he's been three times already this year, which is a record for him!

Fio2 · 23/08/2005 14:29

I asked him last night, the type on his leg is pustular

he has used dovebet (or however you spell it) but it caused really bad cracking of the skin as it must have been thinning it too much or causing irritation, but it was wonderful initially

i just cant stand the scales everywhere, esp in the car round the gear stick, I sound anal now...

Fio2 · 23/08/2005 14:31

and just as a completely usekless addition to this thread, his plaque psoriasis has cleared up whilst he has been in india, well not completely but a definate noticable improvement and now he is back it is slowly going back to what we could call normal

Was he out in the sunshine when he was in India, Fio? That can help dramatically. I hadn't heard of the pustular type - won't tell dh about it in case he decides to have it!

Fio2 · 23/08/2005 17:42

yes he was out in the sunshine sue

delllie · 23/08/2005 19:36

Fio, I totally empathise with the 'scales', my dh suffers from psoriasis and we get them 'around the gear stick' too, in fact all over the house, wouldn't have to do half as much housework if it wasn't for them I'm sure you understand

chicagomum · 23/08/2005 19:48

Fio i too know what you mean about the extra house work my dh has pretty bad psoriasis all over ( "sore-arses" as my dd says it) and also has arthritis in toes and fingers for which he has steroid injections directly into the joints (ouch) he gets quite depressed about it particularly as treating it is so time conssuming and only effective whilst its being done

chicagomum · 23/08/2005 19:55

twiglett - what does the dovobet do for the nails? dh'snails are in such a terrible state if he stubs his toe etc it wrenches half the nail of and they are all pitted,

chonky · 23/08/2005 19:57

Thanks for that Twiglett - my dh has psoriasis with psoriatic athritis too.

The scales, they seem never ending. My dh had some really successful UV therapy a couple of years ago, but now we're back to me following him around the house with the hoover extension. The steroids don't seem to do much, when I remember to nag him to apply them.

Twiglett · 23/08/2005 21:16

according to rheumy the dovobet helps them re-grow again from scratch which is why it takes so long ..

I can join you in the destroyed nails, gear stick flakes irritation but will raise you a dark blue couch ...
