I’m not a reform voter but it’s telling that the media are being quiet about this 5th seat. If I were Farage I would be asking for recounts in constituencies where the vote was close.

It wasn't close anywhere else

RitaAndFrank · 05/07/2024 18:16

I don’t think it’s impressive. He’s a shit stirrer that plugs into impressionable and somewhat vulnerable people’s fears. He’s an opportunist that’s full of hot air and will jump on any bandwagon that’s going to further his career. He doesn’t care about this country at all but he knows exactly what to say to win votes. He speaks in sound bites. His ‘manifesto’ or ahem ‘contract’ was written overnight on the back of a cigarette packet. Not thought through at all and very little of actual substance. Not offering any practical solutions at all just speaking through his arse.

What appalls me is how gullible people are. But after Brexit and Boris, nothing surprises me.

NecessaryNC24 · 05/07/2024 18:17

Are you mates with Andrew Tate ? Grin

Also I’m not particularly a Farage fan but it’s extremely impressive that he came along at the last minute and managed to drum up more votes for his party than the Lib Dems received.

it’s not nothing.

and I also think ignoring large portions of the populace is done at our peril.

It's not like he came out of nowhere. It's Nigel Farage.

Now he's whinging about FPTP. Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens have spent the past four years working on the most disciplined seat targeting campaign of all time, in order to squeeze the Tories 'til their pips squeaked. That's what it takes in FPTP.

Farage won't put that kind of work in.

Hatfullofwillow · 05/07/2024 18:20

The Heritage Foundation thank you for your gullibility.

Riapia · 05/07/2024 18:25

This is the problem with democracy.
Other people are stupid enough to vote for people that you don’t agree with.
This needs putting a stop to.

😉😁😁

Topseyt123 · 05/07/2024 17:51

Appalling. What is wrong with people that they can think it is fine to vote for racist misogynists, and others can think it is excellent!?

Probably because they share the same views .

equisetum · 05/07/2024 18:35

Well that blew up with all the racist calling as per!
Not that anyone mentions the way it was stamped on at the time, nor do the name callers wish to remind themselves of the racist behaviours of members of their own parties.
Whatever you may think, a very new party has made waves across the country with over 4 million 'racists, misogynists, bigots blahblah' backing them.
2nd in 98 constituencies is not a bad start!

So you do agree with calling disabled people vegetables? Vile cretin. 🤮

Absolutely not. Of course.

OP posts:
LadyWhistled0wn · 05/07/2024 18:42

So why do you think it's excellent these people who DO believe disabled people are vegetables have got to MP status? They are on par with the nazis ideology.
You obviously must agree with their ideology to be happy about this news.

equisetum · 05/07/2024 18:44

Do you align with every member of your chosen party? And which party would that be, so I can bring a little more balance to the table.

Why are you using the term cretin?

IfImOnFire · 05/07/2024 18:49

The party whose candidates think women sponge off men and should be denied health care to reduce our life expectancy. Not surprising that party members (or are they company employees?!) feel safe to state such views when the leader endorses Andrew Tate.

I wouldn't say it's excellent that they have another seat, but they'll all do a terrible job in parliament and for the constituencies and the disgraces will keep rolling in every time they open their mouths to spout off some more hate speech.

DearDarcy · 05/07/2024 18:04

Shall we go back the past god knows how many years, and talk about the things that have been said by Labour and Tories and so on? lol

Except Reform aren't saying these things in the past. They're saying them now.

equisetum · 05/07/2024 19:02

I agree with this I do think it’s impressive and I don’t understand people denying that.

I think this is an extremely interesting time for the country politically and I hope politicians take a lot from the election results. Probably won’t though.

There were 18 votes between Labour and the Tories in Poole. I think you'll find that's closer.

Newsenmum · 05/07/2024 19:22

I loved looking at the election map as I know now where to avoid.

It isn't impressive as it's a scattergun approach to getting votes. If you came a close second in every constituency in the country and pulled in an enormous number of votes it would be a waste of time and money because you'd have no MPs. In the first past the post system you need MPs because every single MP represents a vote. No MPs, no votes, no veto, no influence, no bargaining chips. What would be impressive would be doing what Labour, the LibDems and the Greens have done, as spelled out above - target your efforts at the seats you can win and come first.

BanditofBrisbane · 05/07/2024 19:29

LadyWhistled0wn · 05/07/2024 17:52

Says everything about you if you think a party who call autistic people vegetables are excellent. Vile!

WHAT?! I missed that.

I mean they are reprehensible enough as it is without adding that.

I agree, it was just hit and hope.

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/07/2024 19:37

Farage supports Andrew Tate. If you have ever worked with teenage boys you willl know how damaging he is and how a future generation of women will suffer because of the misogynistic views of Tate. It's really scary

CollyBobble · 05/07/2024 20:10

Reform voter here.

The tide is turning.

BanditofBrisbane · 05/07/2024 20:33

The tide is turning.

Aye, and it's washing in a load of idiot racists and misogynists
