Sunak needs to go

This inside gambling business shows that he has done nothing to bring the party back to proper behaviour. He's no better than Johnson was.

This latest one (the data chief) has tipped me over the edge - thousands of pounds 'profit' and it seems clear now he's not the last we'll hear about.

I am bloody sick of it - I want a decent party with morals that I can vote for and it's clear these guys are not it. Is there anyone decent left among them because this seems to be a whole new bunch of people using their position to personally profit.

It's so frustrating and I am so angry at Sunak who's been about as effective as a paper umbrella (ha!).

Hang on a couple of weeks and you'll get your wish.

RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue · 23/06/2024 10:19

There's a general Election in 11 days. Did you not know? There is a strong likelihood that he will be 'gone' then!

boys3 · 23/06/2024 11:03

Yup less than 2wks and his party will be out of power.

Yeah, I know they'll be out. I more meant that following that the party needs to get rid of him (which I think they will) and replace him with someone decent who can bring standards back (which I think they won't - if they are all now as corrupt as they seem, they're not likely to vote in someone who will take them to task for it).

I would love to see a serious, centre/right party I could vote for and there is no one even close. Sad

Sunak is no saint but I don't think he lacks decency, etc. I think he is seen by those around him to be weak. They don't fear him, they take the piss and behave badly. I think a culture started by Johnson needed reining in and Sunak wasn't able to do it.

BIossomtoes · 23/06/2024 12:46

Will they have anyone decent left?

I am not a Tory voter and I still am genuinely shocked that with all the revelations, corruptions and watching the party descend to the levels it has ever since Boris got in, that there has not been mass rioting trying to throw them out 😄

Out of interest, who do posters think is decent and strong enough to steer them back on track?

Starmer’s done a very good job for Labour, maybe they could borrow him. 😂

Pretty much every outgoing PM resigns as leader of the party if they lose an election. At least since Callaghan.

@Nappyvalley15 I'm not sure how anyone can say Rishi is a decent man. I don't see any evidence for that. Do you know something I don't?

YellowHairband · 23/06/2024 15:25

He'll have resigned by midday on 5th July.

Nappyvalley15 · 23/06/2024 15:40

I just do not see him as a bad person in the way I have seen some other politicians. As politicians go I see him as well meaning (within his world-view which I don't particularly share), reasonably hard working and too rich to be corrupt. I think he is out of his depth as prime minister and too inexperienced to manage a pretty ungovernable party.

You know how he got rich in the first place? And what he did as chancellor?

Nappyvalley15 · 23/06/2024 16:47

Married a very rich woman mostly.

I don't know any rich angels. Capitalism doesn't supply them.

Nappyvalley15 · 23/06/2024 16:49

Tories carry out Tory policy. Labour carry out labour policy. People have different views on how the world should work and how the country should be run.

You missed the bit about him being completely incompetent. He excluded over 3 million people from the covid support schemes and then lied about the exclusions in Parliament. He's either grossly incompetent or a liar/fraudster.

Nappyvalley15 · 23/06/2024 17:08

I can see how that was difficult if you were impacted by that.

When I think of politicians with a bad character I think of Johnson who to me is quite damaged or Osborne who killed us with austerity and seemed to almost enjoy doing so or Liz Truss, Suella Braveman, etc...

Nope he had already made millions at the cost of the UK taxpayer.

Watch this op

This current cohort of Tories is pretty unique in the brazenness of their lying, corruption and law breaking. Please don't judge all politicians on the basis of Johnson, Truss, Sunak et Al. The fact they've left people thinking "they are all the same" is one of the worst things they've done imo.

Any of the other options, with the exception of fringe loons and Reform Ltd, are less dishonest and venal than the Tories.

Rishi Sunak - The Movie🇺🇸

Time to take a closer look. Thanks to Gavin Esler for the narration.

At least when Sunak leads the Tories to massive defeat, the "swamp will be drained" and the Tory party can rebuild after they've hopefully ditched Gove, Rees-Mogg and other disruptors. They need a damn good clear out, and if poll predictions are true, they'll have very few MPs left and can rebuild. Hopefully, the rebuild will be from moderates who may actually be popular with the electorate, after all, it's the Middle ground (Mondeo man) where elections are won and lost.

i suspect you will be disappointed. The Conservatives are spivs; to the point that they make Nigel Farage look credible.

Anyone who has alternative employment or a better offer has taken it already. What is left are the very rich (where the outcome barely matters) or the incompetent (who cannot get a job outside). The latter category is what will be left on 5th July.

What troubles me is that after the launch of Eat out to help out in 2020 Rishi Sunak's popularity was at a record high for politicians of +49.

It seems that voters have very short memories and whilst they thought he was wonderful whilst enjoying half priced meals, he is now deeply unpopular when voters have to pick up the bill for this and other COVID measures.

Indeed I'm sure that many of the posters now criticising him on this post viewed him favourably back then.

It's thoroughly depressing that all you have to do to become popular with the masses is to throw them a half priced Nando's.

Zonder · 25/06/2024 04:44

I think people quickly realised that the EOTHO scheme was stupid as the virus spread. Most people didn't know much about him before that but now everyone has seen much more of him and it's not a surprise he has fallen from grace.

Trust me I despised the prick from the day he excluded millions of people from support, I joined a group all excluded and there were 36+ sucides in the year to follow, just on our group alone.

as their businesses and lives fell apart. Directly linked to his oversight on the gaps in support that he could have easily resolved.

And that man went on national TV and lied about having met the excluded group, he literally said "yes I'm aware, and met with the group"

Just an evil nasty self serving prick. I'm delighted his popularity vanished and I won't have to see his goofy face on my TV ever again.
