Buried in their "contract" I.e. manifesto which I've just lost an hour of my life reading.

New Police Leadership & Recruitment Regime. Strong preference for ex-military officers and personnel. I read this as militarising the police.

Introduce new Armed Forces Justice Bill.Protect our servicemen and women on active duty inside and outside the UK from civil law and human rights lawyers. AKA allow the military/new military style police to operate with impunity against UK citizens. A bit like the Stasi. 😮

Instigate “Veterans First” priority Status. For healthcare, housing, training and education, together with support for dependents.

Preferential Qualification for Key Public Sector Leadership Roles. Such as Chief Superintendent of Police Forces, CEO / COO roles in hospitals amongst others.

Give ex military rewards for being loyal, in terms of housing, jobs etc.

I'm actually quite scared by the level of state control Reform are suggesting, buried in pages and pages of boring waffle so I thought I'd summarise it for others who might be considering voting for them

But actually it doesn't matter what they say, because it's not a democratic organisation so Farage can change his mind whenever he likes.

This. He can make up new policies whenever he likes.

DancelikeFredAstaire · 13/06/2024 17:38

The fact they did note allow members to vote for their leader tells you all you need to know about Reform.

bombastix · 13/06/2024 17:41

well if you call it the Demokratic Reform Party then surely you all be massively reassured…

Oh, oddly enough you wouldn’t be

Cornishclio · 13/06/2024 17:42

Scary stuff. There is one standing in our area and I am hoping they steal votes from the current Conservative MP who is appalling but we still can't seem to get her out. That would leave the door open for Labour or Lib Dem. There is no way reform will get in. That is the only advantage of not changing to PR.

Christ! I'm currently watching a documentary on the rise of the Nazis and this sounds staggeringly familiar!

Well given that nige used to go round singing national songs in this youth and bully Jewish pupils in his school (using very hateful antisemitic language), it's not a surprise is it. also Enoch Powell is his hero.

we and the continent seem to be quietly slipping back into fascism.

therealcookiemonster · 13/06/2024 22:21

oh great, they have just overtaken the tories in the polls!

Sunhatweather · 13/06/2024 22:26

It’s a lovely echo chamber you’ve got going on in this thread 😂
I rather like the idea of well trained, physically fit police and looking after veterans who have served their country.

1dayatatime · 13/06/2024 22:39

@Sunhatweather

"I rather like the idea of well trained, physically fit police and looking after veterans who have served their country."

Oooo you can't say things like that on this thread or you'll be labelled a fascist racist trying to overthrow democracy and turn the UK into a Farage dictatorship. All hail Nigel...

Reform aren't the only party guilty of that, are they?

Gondoliere · 14/06/2024 06:03

I would said frustration and lack of law and order and the lost of respect of local values. Some people are terrified of thugs and gangs with machetes outside their homes. Envy? that is the Labour votes.

bombastix · 14/06/2024 08:32

This is just going to grow and grow because the Conservatives have forgotten that their old core vote of the middle class are now struggling to pay the bills. They vote Labour in consequence. What is left for the right? Playing the immigration game, which Farage can do much better than the Tories. He is going to clean up what is left of the Tory working class vote, take some old Labour voters and get 20 per cent by the next three weeks are up.

If people don’t like his language now, you wait until he’s got some traction above the Conservatives; he will turn it up far more, setting the actual agenda.

In a war it is ridiculous, because you can see Braverman saying he should be invited to join the Party. No, he’s going to take it over. And all that comes with it.

AddersAtDawn · 14/06/2024 08:40

Yeah, it is starting to look like Farage and Reform are going to eat the Tories alive.

Even if they don't get the seats, they will get the votes and a Tory wounding is going to mean those who want to invite Farage in are going to be able to do so. Just look at how reverential Mordaunt was toward him last night - she was practically courting him as if it were a job interview. With him being the one hiring.

bombastix · 14/06/2024 08:49

He is hiring. You are spot on. And what will be the ticket? A return to common sense.

Common sense means the UK with the social attitudes of the 1960s. Not liberal, but very much who are you and why are you here.

I think we can all guess the direction from now on

CassieMaddox · 14/06/2024 11:51

HelenaWaiting · 14/06/2024 02:07

Reform aren't the only party guilty of that, are they?

As far as I'm aware, no other parties (apart from maybe Party of Women) are set up as businesses where what the leader says goes.

Most are democratic with members deciding policy and shaping the party. Reform is all down to Farage. Its a dictatorship.

I'm desperately hoping the Lib Dems are the opposition and Farage/Braverman etc al can bugger off and have their turf wars without affecting government

Yes please.

LumiB · 12/06/2024 00:02

Um okay but I read it as

Introduce new Armed Forces Justice Bill.Protect our servicemen and women on active duty inside and outside the UK from civil law and human rights lawyers
......
we've had some high profile cases of service men being treated like criminals ao this is to ensure thay doesn't happen

Instigate “Veterans First” priority Status. For healthcare, housing, training and education, together with support for dependents.

Preferential Qualification for Key Public Sector Leadership Roles. Such as Chief Superintendent of Police Forces, CEO / COO roles in hospitals amongst others.
........

This reads to me like they want veterans to be better recognised for their service, I read this and automatically think this is similiar to how America treat their veterans. Infact in some companies including public sector there already is some level of preferential trestment for veterans getting jobs in terms of specific recruitment drives. This isn't new really

Sounds as if it's making service men and women able to be above the law. Most are decent, of course, and carry out a difficult job while sticking to the rules, but you will get the odd sadist who will need to know they can be prosecuted if they misbehave.

andymary · 14/06/2024 15:04

"I read this as..."

This is all your opinion on what you've read and interpreted in your own way, and now you're trying to force 'your opinion' onto other people without actually fact checking anything.
Facts > Your Opinion.
You should not be posting anything that hasn't been fact checked, as you're just endangering others whilst potentially spewing false claims.

I can just imagine how productive and civilized that would be.

Zonder · 14/06/2024 19:06

And now we know from their PEB that they are really Big Brother.

The US Gov has all these already and more- and police brutality kills civilians every year. Farage is a theif of bad ideas.
