Mr Johnson refers to him as Keir Schnorrer. The word schnorrer is a Yiddish word/insult for beggar or scrounger. Mrs Starmer is Jewish.

If any of you meet any Conservative candidates or there are any who do online questions, let them know about this slur and ask whether they think this man is fit to remain in the Conservative party.

I think it's irrelevant whether it's antisemitic. At worst is is and at best it's incredibly ignorant, particularly at a time like this. There's only a whisper of hair between these two things that it makes it not even worth debating.

But that was the point I was making - it isn't irrelevant, it's very important to distinguish what antisemitism is, to keep it clear in people's minds instead of indiscriminately throwing the accusation around, throwing the word around until it becomes meaningless and then we can't describe the genuine thing.

I have no idea whether his comments were driven by antisemitism but I'm totally convinced that whatever you're posting isn't in the best interests of Jews.

Numerous posters on this thread have been perfectly able to "describe the genuine thing" in relation to what Johnson said, Jewish and non-Jewish.

Well seems little point putting forward any further discussion on it.

I think BJ knows how to get a rise of out people. I still don't think he's actually Anti Semitic though.He speaks fondly of his time on a Kibbutz and has continually vocally and publicly supported the Jewish community and the State of Israel in particular.

I'm not defending his rudeness to KS but I don't think the intention was a slur on Jewishness.
