I know my grandparents. I have one auntie. No nieces or nephews.

Is the only alternative a half sibling?

DNA match percentages are not precise, they are averages.

You inherit half your DNA from each parent. But a completely random half - you don't get exactly 1/4 from each grandparent. Similarly your siblings get half from each parent, but that could be anywhere between exactly the same 'halves' as you got and completely different ones. On average it's half way between those 2 extremes, so on average siblings share 25% - but for any individual pair of siblings it could be some way off that.

Extend the same randomisation across several generations, and there are many possible relationships for any given percentage match.

No it's not 25% for full siblings, it's 38-50% depending on how you interpret it, look it up on google, OP
