Geeky stuff

I have a mobile; I use it for that rather old-fashioned purpose of making phone calls - what else could I do if I bought a new one?

I get the taking photos (but I never understood why)

But what else can modern ones do?

Apparently from tomorrow Tescos are selling the iPhone on their network (which is basically O2). Tesco man wouldn't tell me anything about the offers but someone on

You would need to check what the Tescos tariff would include wrt internet access/downloads etc.

My phone cost me £184 on an 18 month contract (could have had it for £89 on a 2 year contract) and £35 per month which includes loads of minutes, texts, internet and unlimited (I think!) O2 to O2 calls/texts.

BrigitBigKnickers · 13/12/2009 17:31

You can get a reconditioned i phone for free on the o2 25 tariff. 200 mins and 400 texts and free o2 to o2 calls- 18 month contract

Dragon 'In fact, I keep a running shopping list which means I don't forget stuff - I can add it to my basket when I think of it'.

You COMPLETE modern domestic Goddess. I applaud you. I also want an iPhone for Christmas now.

I'm almost drooling at the prospect.

Tesco are introducing the i-phone look here

I am looking for a new phone and would be very interested to see what the tesco deal is. My DD was on the tesco network and they were very good.

rainbowinthesky - i think you could but you would have to check the terms of your contract wrt to internet usage because the iPhone has a totally different tariff

I think that for example you may have 500mb inclusive use of internet which would be fine for the iPhone if you were only doing emails and a bit of browsing etc but you would go over and be charged about £1.20 per mb over the limit if you were streaming lots of videos. Or you may have no free mb in which case you would be paying a fortune for what the iPhone is designed for. I think you also may not be able to connect to wifi (ie your home broadband so not using up your inclusive mb) unless you are on a proper iPhone contract

this is what I understand anyway - i may have got it wrong though

LOL @ Mincepiedermama. It's precisely because I'm not a domestic goddess that I find this so useful. I used to write things on the memo board thing but would either

  1. forgot to actually buy the damn things or
  2. forget to write them on the board as I was rarely standing by it when I realisedwe needed something.

I almost always have my iPhone to hand

It's also useful when you're gossiping whist waiting for nursery to open and you can't remember who Rupert Penry-Jones is married to. A quick google and bob's your proverbial uncle.

I agree about the iPhone tariff though - it does include all the internet usage stuff too.

Katymac · 13/12/2009 20:47

It appears to be advertised on the Tesco website

Goodness they are expensive

I have to say, I dithered over getting one - couldn't justify the outlay or the increased tariff. Then my old phone died and I made a snap decision. I've not regretted it yet - I've had it a month.

Mincepiedermama · 13/12/2009 22:45

Eek! The price Soupy. I think I'd better find a job first.

Surely they've got to get cheaper than that?

Rainbowinthesky · 15/12/2009 19:30

Is there any way I can get out of my orange contract and get myself an iphone????
I can't wait over a year!!
