I have been asked to update friend's website for them.
Have been playing all day, now managed to publish new page. But instead of showing new modified home page, it's all gone!!!!
Please help

Need more information really. Did you accidentally change the name or filetype? It was probably index.html to start with depending on the site.

Are you uploading/downloading the file (using FTP perhaps?) or is it one of those 'edit it on the site' packages?

Greyriverside · 17/06/2008 15:24

And do you mean the site is ALL gone or that the home page is there unchanged?

bonniefromboot · 17/06/2008 15:27

Hi Grey
Sorry to be unhelpful
am using nvu and created a new home page called index.html.
published it using nvu. can see it in the directory thing and when i use filezilla can see it there.
then this is the stupid part, accidentallly deleted index.html from the webserver cos there were 2 files called this... and now nothing
look [www.tasteofbute.com here]

ok
so i have the original one saved.
so if i delete all the files called index.html and then upload the correct one, then that should work?

so....
just one more question, if I alter it again, do i just make the changes then hit publish, or do I need to delete the old index.htm page first and then upload a new one?
