you need to buy one of 2 things

1 - USB wifi adaptor that you plug into one of your spare USB ports on the PC - these are a little fragile and can affect the performance of the USB bus and the PC - recommend Netgear WG111 to work with the Netgear box from Sky... note this is only 54mb

2 - you can purchase a PCI wifi card that fits in a spare slot in the back of the PC.. this is the most reliable option but is a little more expensive and technical to acheive - recommend Netgear WG311T to work with the Sky Netgear device.. this can in good areas get 108mb

I would recommend the secnd option as it is a little more stable that the USB option

Note.. I am assuming you have a PC and not laptop.. for a laptop the USB module will work or you will require a PCMCIA card to get this working if your laptop is not already wireless ready

apparently my laptop is wireless but isnt 'reading' that it is. BIL is going to have a look at that.

PC definatly isnt wireless, so will look at the two options u have said thank you.

You can buy a wireless adapter. It looks just like a memory stick, plugging into a USB port.

Stick with Netgear cos that is the make of the router from Sky and you wont go wrong... other makes will work ok but may have performance issues...

Good luck

'Littlelapin',... I understand what you are saying but the router is Netgear. it is generally safer to keep the same brand when conecting wireless equipment as they have their own little niggles that cause performance issues when mixing brands... IMHO and from experience

Misdee · 06/01/2008 21:25

is it def netgear? as it says sagam on it, and cant see anywhere where it ays netgear.

sky said they would sell me one but have decided to try and find a better deal (cant even remember what price they said)

booklet that came with set up says wireless adapter must be 802.11b or 802.11g to be compatable with the system we have.

i have no idea what any of that means

totally confusing me.

would that DAB one be ok do you think? its more in my budget at the present time. welive in a bungalow and the pc is in the next room to the router. wals are v v v think, just platerboard.

would that have any effect on performance etc?
