done it loads before,. ususaly just plug it in open win dvd and away you go.
but now it is only copying as a music file not a video. so only get sound.
ds says it is to do with it being a MPEG file but ????????

we have mpeg videos on our digital camera and copy to pc, so can't see why that would be the problem.

what kind of camera is it you have?

DEFINATELY A VIDEO FILE. WIN/DVD PLAYS IT But when it reords it onto hard drive it records as a music file(sorry about caps)
it is dd's sn school play(sympathy vote) I did it on the video camera. have not had this problem before

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:02

sorry flier it is just a JVC vidio camera. it feels iynwim like somehow a stting has changed either on the pc or camera

Flier · 04/01/2008 18:05

I tend to agree with littlelapin re file associations, I'm just trying to remember how to check it, maybe littlelapin will be back in a moment to tell you, she knows her stuff

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:14

it only gives me the choice of win dvd or movie maker

ElevenRustyPipersPiping · 04/01/2008 18:15

Have you tried importing it using movie maker?

Flier · 04/01/2008 18:21

Try this:-

Go into control panel
Click on "Folders Options"
Then click on "File types"
page down until you can see the file extension your file has, and the software it will open with.

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:36

sorry i don't understand that

(plus side is due to fiddling i have found that i can take a picture of a picture in the video)

Flier · 04/01/2008 18:42

reading back, you say that the camera "records the movie as a music file". have you been able to find out the file extension of the file you have recorded?

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:55

right I will have to get ds to read these replies as i am lost.

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:56

sorry i just don't get the file extension bit

2shoes · 04/01/2008 18:59

what i don't get is if i play it in windows media player. it plays. but if i try to put it on win dvd so that i can burn it. it then says it is a music file.

Flier · 04/01/2008 19:03

so its a win dvd setting thats wrong, if you can get your dc to take a look at the file extension thing I was on about, we can maybe take it from there.
xx

You seem to want to do MPG to DVD.

Could try using DVD Flick - A tutorial for how to use DVD Flick
Don't think it is that easy to use, but I think it does what you want.

2shoes · 04/01/2008 22:06

it used to work. I would do it all on windvd. capture video then burn it.

well the good news is i have now got it done on win dvd. i just had to change something in the tools option.
but now my pc won't "see" the blank dvd in the drive. it will "see" a cd but not dvd. it has burnt dvd's before.

MarsLady · 05/01/2008 18:39

what about changing the thing in tools back? (I know... I have no useful advice)
