Does anyone know any good ones? DH and I live an exciting life Wink and have been trying some brainteasers out on each other. I appear to have run out now but I want some really tricky ones to get him with tomorrow if anyone can help!

I've been sitting here puzzling over Kevin's candles, but I think Queen has it: binary!

DadDadDad · 29/03/2018 13:25

If the price for 3 is £2, the price for 17 is £4, and the price for 210 is £6, what am I selling?

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 13:27

numbers for the front door

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 13:31

The hint (to me at least) over the candles is that there was an unlit candle previously.

different puzzles are more obvious to different people.
i would have never have got the earlier riddle about liverpool=4, hull = 0 etc....

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 13:33

Queen is right.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/03/2018 13:35

You’re at a cricket match, and every batsman is out first ball. What is the number of the only one not out at the end?

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 13:35

9-1 = 10
39-1 = 40
14-1 = 15
11 -1 = ??

(the answer is not 12)

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 29/03/2018 13:41

Polkadots - 3?

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 29/03/2018 13:44

No, nonsense. First over, numbers 1,3,4,5,6,7 are out. Next over, numbers 2,9 and 10 are out.

So it's 8.

HeyYouGuyyyys · 29/03/2018 13:45

THE BUS STOP....
you should put your indicator on to pull into the bus stop :)

DadDadDad · 29/03/2018 13:45

Queen - is yours something to do with Roman numerals, so 11 - 1 would be 10?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/03/2018 13:46

That’s right Psammead Smile

DadDadDad · 29/03/2018 13:47

Psammead - so in your solution to the cricket problem, did number 11 not even bat? I don't blaming against bowling like that!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/03/2018 13:50

It’s 2 I feel sorry for - standing there gradually realising that that’s going to happen to him!

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 13:56

Dad yes, roman numerals.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 13:59

It's been around for millions of years, but it's no more than a month old. What is it?

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 13:59

Two days ago, Suzy was 8. Next year, she'll be 11. Explain.

whyohwhy000 · 29/03/2018 14:00

It's been around for millions of years, but it's no more than a month old. What is it?
The moon?

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 14:24

why yup !

DadDadDad · 29/03/2018 14:26

Monger - yesterday was 31 December and Suzy's 9th birthday.

AngeloMysterioso · 29/03/2018 14:29

Suzy turned 9 on the 31st December. She’ll be 10 on the 31st December this year, and 11 next year.

DadDadDad · 29/03/2018 14:30

This is a problem where I've changed my mind on what is the correct answer:

In my back garden, I have two piles: a kilogram of bricks and a kilogram of feathers. Which weighs more?

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 14:32

Suzy turned 9 on the 31st December. She’ll be 10 on the 31st December this year, and 11 next year.
Correct

The kilogram of feathers weighs more, because not only do you have to carry the feathers, but you also have to carry the weight of what you did to those birds.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 29/03/2018 14:45

A young woman is attending her mother's funeral. While there, she meets a man she has never seen before and falls in love immediately. After the funeral she tries to find him but cannot. Several days later she kills her sister.

why?

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 14:50

The man will come to her sister's funeral.
