The Alnwick Rose for me.

So lovely! I ordered one yesterday, very excited 😊

This smells gorgeous but I don't know what it's called, it came from the bargain bucket at B&M! 2 golden showers make us chuckle 😁

Peace rose.
Usually the first one. Closely followed by a burgundy one I don't know the name of and pink one that I suspect is queen Elizabeth.

Charles Darwin now blooming … this one was in a ridiculously skinny stem and basically lying on the ground so I’ve cut it and brought it inside. It smells like sherbet lemons.

I bought Charles Darwin week before last in memory of a relative who had died.

I got the one with the most flower buds on it and I currently have three beautiful blooms opened out.

Still waiting for Gabriel Oak and Warm Wishes to come out, the last of my six roses to flower, the buds are looking good but think another couple of days at least before I see a full bloom on GO, WW will be next week I would think now.

A Shropshire Lad, closely followed by Mortimer Sackler. My roses are super healthy this year.

Mine too, how come it’s such a good rose year ? I’ve never had so many blooms.

My rambling rector is now going great guns - it has almost smothered an ornamental cherry tree - its so pretty especially when I look down on it from my bedroom.

bloodredfeaturewall · 25/05/2025 10:54

imo roses without scent are dissapointing.
I have a red one which looks nice but no scent. am looking to replace it but can't find a nice red scented one on a 50~ cm stem in the garden centres.

MabelsBeats · 25/05/2025 13:37

Emily Brontë has been my first this year, love it! Thanks everyone else for sharing, I adore roses!

How have you trained that,@Londonmummy66? Mine is only new since last year and nowhere near so full!

Its probably 25 years old and I can't take credit for its shape as it grew into the tree like that. Every now and then I chop off the trailing ends when they impede walking onto the lawn but otherwise its left to do its own thing.

Well, it’s ravishing!

Thank you! I love her. She's great in the autumn as well when all the hips are out.

QueenOfSwedenRose · 26/05/2025 14:19

I'd never heard of Rambling Rector before I started this thread. Im watching the Chelsea highlights and they walked under an arch of it. Sophie Raworth said she grew up in a house covered in it. Lovely.

A friend had a big hedge of it at the front of her house, and you would see people stopping in their tracks at the scent (though I think she had a Madame Alfred Carriére mixed in). I took cuttings but they didn’t work, so I bought some of my own. They’re doing well in their second season.

I've no idea what either are, but this scented orange one was first to open, followed by the unscented by prolific pink flowering one. For some reason this year the pink one is mottled which it hasn't been before. We've been here 8 years.
My Claire Austen is just about to open which I am very excited about. We only planted it last autumn.
