I've got my back door open and as I do every year I've planted a lot of stocks in pots right outside.

I actually make a happy noise every time a whiff blows in.

Close joint second are the smells of the basil and mint

@Cowbells

Daphne is gorgeous, nicotiana, night scented stocks, lavender, jasmine and a nemesia which smells of vanilla and honey. Used to have it by the front door and it smelled like we'd been baking every day.
Ooh I have some nemesia in hanging baskets by the same door for the first time ever. I wonder if that is why the smell seems even more delicious than usual?

Wallflowers.

Choisya.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 30/05/2021 20:37

Tomato plants in a hot greenhouse! - that's my ultimate.

Cowbells · 30/05/2021 20:38

It's so lovely isn't it @DeepNorthFarmGardening? I haven't done our hanging baskets yet this year. I think I'll have to buy some more nemesia.

Gladioli23 · 30/05/2021 20:40

Sweet peas and Philadelphus for me. I adore Philadelphus, I have one planted right by the patio so I can sit and enjoy it in the evenings.

Cotswoldmama · 30/05/2021 20:43

Lilac, the scent is so strong ♥️

mamakoukla · 30/05/2021 20:51

Oh gosh - too many! Lavender, rosemary, basil… peonies, Lily of the valley, dianthus…. certain ferns and pine trees as the dew burns off…. sweet pea, citronella, lilac… lilies, freesia, hyacinth….

Babdoc · 30/05/2021 21:20

Viburnum in the depths of winter, a gorgeous vanilla scented promise of Spring to come.
Wallflowers in the early Spring, right outside my door.
The delicate scent of massive drifts of bluebells in the beechwoods across the hills from my house.
Delicious fresh cow parsley and elderflower blossom in the hedgerows. Lilacs in the garden.
Sweet Williams, old roses, honeysuckle and lavender in the summer.
What a lovely world we live in, with such wonderful plants to enjoy!

pandora206 · 30/05/2021 22:04

Old roses
Lilies

HasaDigaEebowai · 30/05/2021 22:08

Another vote for stocks. My absolute favourite

PointersPlease · 30/05/2021 22:15

Definitely choisya

cissyandbessy · 30/05/2021 22:24

I have a scented yellow azalea that fills the whole garden with scent this time of year. It's so lovely. Also love Apple blossom, mock orange and lilac. Have some night scented stock seedlings ready to buy plant and am hoping they take.

mamaca · 30/05/2021 22:28

Scented yellow azalea for me too! Gorgeous scent 😊 also love lavender and honeysuckle

WisconsinRaw · 30/05/2021 22:29

Definitely wisteria or honeysuckle, especially honeysuckle at night.

SnugglySnerd · 30/05/2021 22:31

Honeysuckle
Sweet peas
Lavender

Also does a greenhouse full of tomatoes count? Takes me right back to my Grandad's greenhouse when we would let me pick them. Love that smell!

nocoolnamesleft · 30/05/2021 22:33

Mixture of mint, parsley, rosemary and coriander when it's been raining, and then the sun comes out.

Albern · 30/05/2021 22:35

Wallflowers
Sweet Peas
The rose outside my front door (not sure what it is but its lovely )

MrsDrSpencerReid · 30/05/2021 22:43

Freesia & Jasmine are my absolute favourite!

Also lavender & rosemary and anything lemony.

I’m also reminded of my Grandad at the smell
of fresh grown tomatoes.

Ooh and Gardenia! They used to be planted all around our local library, smelled amazing.

RosesAndHellebores · 30/05/2021 22:47

Lots that have been mentioned but the stand out for me is daphne. Always unexpected as it flowers through the winter.

user123532 · 30/05/2021 22:53

Sweet peas and hyacinths

Didiusfalco · 30/05/2021 23:01

@cissyandbessy @mamaca I was just coming on to say the same. A pale yellow scented azalea that smells like lilies and perfumes the whole garden. Do you have any idea of the name?

SirVixofVixHall · 30/05/2021 23:12

@MilduraS

Lily of the valley for me but I can't have it as I have cats Sad Close contenders are star jasmine and old roses.
Lily of the Valley is poisonous, but it isn’t a risk to cats I don’t think, unless they eat it obviously, but many garden plants are toxic to eat. Lilies on the other hand have pollen that can get on to a cat’s fur, and then be licked off, it damages cat’s kidneys. Lily of the Valley is not the same plant family as the large pollen heavy lilies that can kill cats.
RampantIvy · 30/05/2021 23:13

Honeysuckle (the yellow one)
Philadelphus
Wisteria
Lilac

mamaca · 31/05/2021 05:21

I bought it in our local garden centre, I'm sure it was just "scented azalea". They all seemed to be yellow, so maybe this is the only colour of azalea with a scent? I could be wrong though!

LaBellina · 31/05/2021 05:23

Lemon blossom
