Show us your peonies!

I remember a lovely thread a couple of years ago, maybe, where everyone shared photos of their peonies as they flowered. I realised from that that mine was late flowering, and that the flowering season for it was fairly short, even by peony standards.

Mine is still in bud. I think its a Sarah Everard. I've also bought a Shirley Temple this year, but not expecting much from it yet. I would love a Duchesse de Nemours.

Would anyone be willing to start us off with their photos?

Here’s a pic of mine, it’s a couple of weeks to go before the buds open up, last year it was tiny and gave me one flower so I threatened it with the compost heap if it didn’t do better this year.

@billybagpuss Cor, they're going to be stunning in a couple of weeks time! Nice aquilegia too.

Thank you billybagpuss.
I agree the aquilegias have been brilliant this year.

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/05/2021 22:23

My aquilegia are nowhere near flowering, yet my peony us in full bloom now

didireallysaythat · 27/05/2021 22:29

If mine haven't got buds have I planted them too deep? I'm in the cold east, and the bed isn't full sun....

Billybagpuss · 05/06/2021 10:08

Here’s one of mine - a division from my late mum’s garden 25 years ago. Bowl of Beauty and Shirley Temple nowhere near ready so a couple of gratuitous poppy photos also attached for showing off purposes...

took three years for my peony to flower - and that first year I only got I bloom. three years on I've got about a dozen buds. but we're up in the frozen north (scotland) so it will be a little while before they open up
HunkyPunk · 05/06/2021 17:26

Can't remember when these bloomed, but took this pic on 13 May. Was pleased to see them out, as another peony (prob a different variety) next to it never comes to anything. The buds form, but shrivel and die before flowering Sad

I've only had one out of 20ish flower so far but the rest are budding up nicely.

This is the only one I have this colour the rest are all pale pink. Can anyone identify it? I inherited them all with the garden.

Also had an amazing show of aquilegia this year like others.

Mine is still in tight buds, but we're in Scotland so weeks behind some of you!

I don't know what kind it is as we inherited it with the house, it has ombré flowers, going from pink at the outside to white in the middle. My parents took part of the corn 2 years ago and it's doing well in their garden, and mil wants some of it this year. Hasn't stopped it sprouting, there must be 20 buds easily on it at the moment.
