Just moved into a new house. There are lots of fruit trees, I can identify the apple, pear and plum trees but not this one?

Might be a greengage, similar to plum

AdaColeman · 03/06/2019 21:54

Have you cut one open, could they be walnuts?

LimpidPools · 03/06/2019 21:56

I thought walnuts. If you do cut one open, be careful - the juice will stain your fingers. (I'd probably just stamp on one Blush)

GnomeDePlume · 03/06/2019 22:44

It looks like a gage to me. Absolutely delicious!

Greengage or damson I think, but might be plum.

sackrifice · 03/06/2019 23:03

You need to wait until they ripen but plum, damson or gage.

Londonbum · 03/06/2019 23:08

This is how my Victoria plum tree looks right now

HannahB64 · 03/06/2019 23:14

Definitely not plums, I grow plums everyday for a living, willing to debate this with anyone.

These are kiwis, if anyone here grows kiwis, time to speak.

mrsdaz · 03/06/2019 23:18

They haven’t got the growth on the end like kiwis though? They are smooth and oval - I’ll stamp on one tomorrow to see. They are in the early stages of growth:.

Kiwis don't tend to grow on prunus trees.

StrumpersPlunkett · 03/06/2019 23:20

Almond I reckon

StrumpersPlunkett · 03/06/2019 23:22

Do they look like this?

Doyoumind · 03/06/2019 23:23

They look like damsons but maybe too green for the time of year.

wowfudge · 04/06/2019 10:31

Something from the plum family - the leaves are wrong for walnut and the fruits are definitely plum like. They look like Victoria plums to me.

JosephineHass · 04/06/2019 10:41

Mirabelle plum?

UniversalTruth · 04/06/2019 18:29

They look like my cherry plum if the bloody squirrels and pigeons hadn't eaten the lot

UniversalTruth · 04/06/2019 18:29

Can you post a pic of the tree trunk?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 04/06/2019 18:30

They look like my Victoria plums.
I moved here last year and initially thought damsons but they kept growing!

MaybeitsMaybelline · 04/06/2019 18:33

They’re plums, which won’t be ready to harvest until September or October depending where you live. Mine are exactly the same but still a bit smaller, but I live ooop north.

They get bigger and bigger then start to turn colour when they are at full size.

JohnWolfenstein · 04/06/2019 18:34

They look exactly like my victoria plums too. Leaves are correct as well. Not sure who said they're definitely not plums? Coz they look like them to me!

endofthelinefinally · 04/06/2019 18:37

They are plums.
You lucky thing, you will be able to make plum vodka for Christmas.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 04/06/2019 18:46

They are so tasty.
I made loads of crumbles last year with the windfalls

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 04/06/2019 18:49

Almonds are fluffier than that. I know because I have all of two growing on my tree (it's only a baby!).

mrsdaz · 04/06/2019 21:32

No - they are smooth
