..because DH is coming home today? I haven't seen him for 13 weeks, and have only spoken to him for 45 minutes during that time!

He's not home yet... few hours to go still.

Got it in one Denbury!

Are you going to see him in? I did that a couple of times, but it doesn't happen too quickly - mind you I could see him on the "roof" (for about 2 hours before they finally got alongside).

FourArms · 24/11/2008 12:15

Yes we are. It means that we'll be there for about 3 hours before we actually 'meet' him though. Unfortunately DH isn't one of those that will be up top! (or fortunately? are they tied on up there )

Leaving in 45 mins.... Just built a massive marble run to pass the time, but that only took half an hour.

Brilliant!

scaryteacher · 25/11/2008 08:38

My ds was christened on that boat when dh was WEO, and his name is engraved on the bell. Is the routine still Devils Point and then go round and wait?

FourArms · 25/11/2008 14:03

Think so ST. Very exciting about your DS! I'll get DH to have a look. We're hoping to get the DS's christened at BRNC at some point.

scaryteacher · 25/11/2008 16:02

He'll need to look for a date on 14.01.1996 to identify ds.

Haven't been to BRNC for years....v sad to hear that the RM band there were no more . I used to wake up to them playing Hearts of Oak, Life on the Ocean Wave and Rule Britannia when my Dad was on the staff and we lived in the Coombe.

I dread dh being offered an appointment there as I don't do church, flowers, coffee mornings or a sweet and obliging RN wifey impression. Too bloody anchor faced there for me.
Hopefully dh will get another appointment out here, as the lifestyle is very nice and you can pick and choose the bits of service life you want to be involved with. It isn't Cornwall, but it's not a bad substitute.

Really? I went to stay with some friends, and she showed me the tear off slip to respond to a coffee morning...and was worried that the Capts wife had seen her pushing her pram looking fairly ratty! I live and die in jeans and fleeces so having to look respectable would be too much like hard work.

Of course, it could be all the fit mids you're after...isn't there talent at Shriv? How's the ACSC going for your dh?

Went back to UK for db's birthday the other weekend....felt old as it was his 40th. Can't believe my baby bro has survived that long!!!

hf128219 · 26/11/2008 16:39

We all love Coffee mornings really. And pot luck suppers, progressive dinner parties and committees.

I plan what to wear absolutely weeks in advance and never leave the house without my pearls.

scaryteacher · 26/11/2008 18:28

Well, speak for yourself.....I avoid coffee mornings like the plague, unless it's a school one I have to go to; I wouldn't know a progressive dinner party if it bit me on the derriere.

Being in Brussels means that it really isn't very military, as there isn't a wardroom / mess, so you just see who you want to and avoid those you don't want to see. Bargain!

hf128219 · 26/11/2008 19:00

I hope you realise I was taking the pish!

scaryteacher · 26/11/2008 20:01

At least it wasn't the pith (helmet!).

I think that what made me rofl recently was the appeal to go to the 'drop in' centre (aka a HIVE I presume), and make tea cosies for the UK stall at the NATO bazaar...not my thing at all.

However, I did go to a NaNAG dinner the other night, which was v nice, and I wore my pearls!
