I am feeling crap. We might have a posting back to an area we want and I still burst into tears when dh told me. I wonder if I will ever be happy. We didn't want to be here but I have worked really hard to make the most of it and be part of the local community etc and have a good bunch of friends. I LOVE the nursery that dd1 went to and dd2 is going to and really like the school that dd1 has just started. The thought of moving again is making me miserable even though we sort of asked for it...
It is hard work though and although the children are still v young (2.5 and nearly 5) and I know will settle OK (hopefully) I know we will just get sorted and settled and have to move again....
I want to live somewhere where I can watch my friends children grow up with mine, not move around all the time. But by the same token I am desperate to be closer to my family and this will bring this. I truly should not be complaining and I am sure I will be excited when it sinks in and I get organised but my initial feeling is . I really really really know how lucky I am, honestly when I have my rational head on, but right now I am having a moan as I feel sad. Just humour me and say 'there there', please .

Cam · 22/01/2008 20:15

Ah Wiltshire. Spent quite a few years there.

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:19

Have a good trip back BenandAlex.
McDreamy - I think we missed each other just. We moved back here Feb 2006. Dd2 was 6 months. I had her during the TPMH crisis. Luckily I was one of the first to deliver at the Limassol private hosp bit as dd2 was overdue . Had to be induced but was worth the wait to miss Limassol General. How bizarre my dd1 could have been at school with yours and the dd2's would have started preschool together in a different life .
Have the Arrows arrived for their preseason training yet??

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:21

Sorry your ds1.....
B&A - My dd1 was due to DH having a stint in Kuwait. I missed him .

McDreamy · 22/01/2008 20:21

No arrows yet but DS will just love it when they do! We overlapped by a month. arrived Jan 06 when DS was 5 months and DD was nearly 3.

McDreamy · 22/01/2008 20:22

My DD was due to my honeymoon and the free cocktails!!!!

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:27

Ooo oooh, I wonder if we met............how interesting....

OP posts:
McDreamy · 22/01/2008 20:28

Isn't it...!! I will have to speak to CP!

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:33

Tell me you weren't at L-on-O in York.....

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:40

I was in L-on-O in Aug 2004. I used to be the Manservs Clerk there as a civil servant. I had to go back for 3 days work so I didn't lose my maternity allowance and then I flew off. So you know Doc K-P? He confirmed my pregnancy and the lady doc there (civvie, had to do two months in Cyprus) and the med centre manager SB with white hair had a new baby just before we had dd1 initial M (the baby)?????

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:43

Oi - McDreamy over here so not to hijack that thread.
My DH is a PTI but also an RI so did a bit of work with the Med Centre. He didn't have an RI slot in Cyprus so didn't work with the Med Centre there....just worked next door lol.

McDreamy · 22/01/2008 20:44

I know Doc KP. He locums here sometimes. I also know the civvi Dr, Dr C. Can't place the manager at the moment....need to think!

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 20:49

Lol, what a small world! SB might have left / been leaving.......
Dr C did my pregnancy check and made me feel really special, unlike my nice midwife to whom, of course, I was just another pregnant mum.

OP posts:
McDreamy · 22/01/2008 20:52

I didn't see the midwife at the med centre because DH said she was so awful. What a small world though and yes Dr C was lovely wasn't she!

So nice to talk to you. I've got to go to bed now what with the 2 hour difference and the early starts!

I will be back tomorrow!! Who did you know at LOO with children? I knew a girl called KD who had M, bit older than our DDs. Did you know her?

WalnutVeneer · 22/01/2008 21:04

I was born in York while my father was based at L-on-O

Cam · 22/01/2008 21:07

That's funny, so was I

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 21:32

Dd1 was born in York District Hospital (in the pool). The roundabouts on the way there nearly finished me off!

OP posts:
Cam · 22/01/2008 21:34

They wouldn't have had those roundabouts when I was born, there were barely any cars on thr roads

I was nearly born in the ambulance on the way though

VanillaPumpkin · 23/01/2008 09:39

Cam - Exciting stuff !
McDreamy - I don't want to freak you out or anything but I was lying in bed last night thinking about you and any way I do believe we DID meet at CP's house. You were friends with her from before Cyprus weren't you? She had me round as all our stuff had gone and she is lovely and you came round and you had no stuff. I vaguely remember thinking you were very nice and our children were the same age and it would have been nice to get to know you but we were in the midst of leaving chaos and you in the midst of arriving chaos. I think your ds was in his car seat.....or my dd was.....The girls definately played together with J. Ha. Run away now .

KD - Did she have a pilot husband, brown bobbed hair (Hmm doesn't narrow it down much at Linton) I thought they went to Lyneham ....but I could be in a right muddle. She lived on the OMQ new patch of houses White Rose Close or the road next door. If the same she couldn't fit her furniture in and had it in the garage........ Karen???
I didn't know many people with children as I knew we were off to Aki and so wasn't making too much of an effort to meet new people .
I knew everyone on camp though because it was my job to do all the posting and courses and go through their files when they arrived . And I raised and checked all the reports .

Oh that was KT her daughter was Lottie - she is my BEST friend and has a house near our house in the UK!!!

I spoke to CP this lunchtime and as you say we did meet and I do remember you!! What a small world! I gave her your message, she says the you and CC were dear friends of hers and she misses you too.

VanillaPumpkin · 23/01/2008 16:00

Aw! Lol at this. Yes KT. I remember her surname now you have said that. I didn't know her overly well but had a fair few conversations with her and she is lovely. I met KT through another lady from Tasmania, (married to a pilot) who was an amazing cook and so lovely and her friend and she all looked after me and made me go out etc when DH went off to Kuwait. They moved though before I did I think....KT will remember Tasmanian friend but possibly not me......Anyway small small world. KT bought a house in Lyneham didn't she?? I vaguely remember being a bit .
So glad you know CP. She is so lovely . Very special.
