Good Luck MrsSnapLegs.
My dh was picked up a couple of years ago, totally unexpected, The look on his face when he told me! It was a wonderful day.

MrsSnaplegs · 17/02/2011 09:11

Oooh Mrs Matelot - you dont happen to be based in US at the moment are you? It's just we have friends there and her DH uses Matelot as his username on another forum? As my DH is Snaplegs and I am Mrs Snaplegs I wondered if you were the person I think you are and using a similar system Wink
If it is who I think it is Grin

MrsMatelot · 17/02/2011 12:05

Sorry to have confused you, don't think we are the same people, unless my dh is frequenting forums & not telling me Grin

MrsSnaplegs · 17/02/2011 12:36

Well if we haven't just bought an old landrover off you then no! And don't worry it was only a landrover forumGrin

This time next week - the anticipation is killing me!!

"...selection board once a year, promotion dependent on who/how your reports are written and if you are "in zone" for promotion. Also dependent on how many they need to promote for the year, they only need 3 this year for my branch."

Good luck! There's lots of speculation going round my husband's cap badge regarding the pink list right now.

It was the husband's first look at pinking this year but - despite scoring high on the filter board - he won't run to the main board as there are no vacancies in his YOB. Mind you, when he finishes his current job he's off to the sandpit as an acting anyway, so things should catch up next year.

[crosses fingers]

The RAF process I was describing is actually slightly different to promotion - promotion is similar to how you describe it (i.e they need a certain number in each rank and they assess/board likely candidates and a number of them will be picked up. The process my Dh was going through was a selection process they carry out for 'high profile' command slots that a number of people in the same rank will be interested in. They have a similar 'boarding' process, but contact candidates beforehand to make sure they are happy for their name to put forward (i.e it may be an overseas job that could be personally difficult for someone etc).

MrsSnaplegs · 24/02/2011 07:02

Well today is the day, 3 hours to wait but I'm not holding my breath. Have resigned myself to it not happening then I can't be disappointed. Will let you know either way ! Sad

On the course DH is doing (you know the one), only 6 people picked up! They've reduced the numbers promoting haven't they by a lot?

MrsSnaplegs · 24/02/2011 11:45

We still had same numbers this year but am gutted 2 of the 3 promoted were v junior to me! If anyone dares to say it is because I have children I will be fuming and out for heads! A retired officer from my branch said it to me a few weeks ago. Gutting thing is everyone I have worked for can't understand why I haven't been promoted before so it's not my over inflated ego Grin

OP posts:
jcscot · 24/02/2011 12:37

Commiserations. They certainly have reduced the numbers. Only four from my husband's cap badge picked up this year.

MrsSnaplegs · 24/02/2011 13:58

Having a therapeutic throw out of "stuff" to make me feel better! Once house is organized will start planning my life for the next 12 months ! Think it may be time to stop giving my all at work as obviously not getting me anywhere, may take opportunity to apply to do Msc pArt time and get something for me for my time done - 8 yrs to retirement for me and time to plan for the future as it clearly isn't dark blue Sad
Definately a case of if your face fits and mine clearly doesn't

Right vintage about my bookGrin

Sorry to hear that news. Very demoralising, especially when people more junior to you have been picked up. Wine
