NanBullen · 23/05/2010 20:21

corned beef, i just try not to think about whats in it

Crazycatlady · 23/05/2010 21:11

KP Choc Dips. I literally cannot have one ever again in my life because once I've had one, I have to have eat least five.

And mcdonalds of course. So wrong, and that oniony aftertaste is quite alarming, but oooh that first bite of quarter-pounder mmmmm.

Quite partial to an Ikea meatball too .

but at deep-fried battered pizza!!! I don't really get it though. Is it actually a whole pizza covered in fish and chip style batter or is it like a calzone type affair but just with batter rather than pizza dough?

Crazycatlady · 23/05/2010 21:12

What is a tin pie? I'm guessing it must be good since it involves the word 'pie'

thumbwitch · 24/05/2010 02:11

crazycatlady, this is an example of a tin pie - they come in a tin, you open them with a can opener and take the lid off then cook in the oven.

I don't know about the deepfried pizza but would think it's slices of pizza (with a thin layer of batter) rather than a whole one. Goes with deepfried marsbars and deepfried Christmas pudding, things I wouldn't want to try myself (but then I don't like deepfried anything).

MoonFaceMama · 24/05/2010 08:54

Think deep dried pizza is a scottish delicacy. Went to uni in edinburgh and found a whole new take on carb-on-carb (no offence any body, i LOVE scotland!). For example, the greggi (plural of greggs) sell macaroni pies. Yes, a pie with mac n cheese in. I once saw a man eating a pie in a bap...wonder if it was a macaroni pie for a triple carb hit.

Also saw a sign in a chip shop that claimed to be the home of the couscous toastie. What?

Has though reminded me off the pleasure of the native british predecesor of the pannini...the Brevile toastie- cheese and bean please!

For those lovers of battered things there is apparently a chippy in marsden, west yorkshire, that does deep fried jam sarnies. The evolution of the donut starts here!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/05/2010 09:24

Chicken paste

Yup, that vile, jarred, mechanically smooshed chicken nether regions, beaks, eyes etc.

On shiteola white pappy bread.

moonfacemama - when DH and I first moved here to near Middlesbrough, we discovered that our local Co-op sold Lasagne Pies. They're remarkable at mopping up alcohol and eliminating seediness the day after!!

Laquitar · 24/05/2010 09:37

moonface, Is deep dried pizza low fat, no sauce?

Crazycatlady · 24/05/2010 09:49

Waah, that tin pie looks quite alarming!

Very impressed at all the deep-fried creativity...

Now I want a cheese and jam toastie.

crabb · 24/05/2010 10:02

Raw steak (remember Steak Tartare?).
Uncooked sausage meat (only from gourmet sausages!)
I think I must be a throwback.

Avad · 24/05/2010 12:49

the pizzas here are 10inch ones, whole, dipped in batter then deepfried sounds disgusting but tis bloody delicious.

Sonilaa · 24/05/2010 16:18

IKEA meatballs - always take some frozen packs to do at home...

Peanut puffs

DressageNut · 24/05/2010 16:24

That disconcertingly orange curry sauce you get in little pots at the chippy. Mmmmmmm!

BafanaBafana · 24/05/2010 17:07

Mmmm, love Ikea meatballs, too.

And McD's when in the mood

Sunblest shite white sliced with lashings of marg (yes, marg, not butter)

sausages, bacon, chrozio, most processed, artery-blocking meats

boursin

bunjies · 24/05/2010 17:46

Fried Spam
Angel Delight

ticktockclock · 24/05/2010 18:30

Ooooo yes Boursin, Blue Cheese, Raclette, Fondue and Clotted cream [dairy queen here]!
Not to mention Lemon Meringue Pie, Cupcakes, and gooey brownies fresh from the oven

jooseyfruit · 24/05/2010 18:40

Lardy cake. Amazing.
luckily I live up north, so only indulge when visiting mil in Brizzle once or twice a year.

warburtons thick toasty bread, toasted, left to go cold, then thick butter and peanut butter.

Avad · 24/05/2010 19:05

ticktockclock, none of those are wrong !

mmmm lardy cake, the corner bits are the best with the most caramelly bits on and Greggs makes the best one ever

Ooh Prolesworth - 'hot-dog cheese' yes yes yes!!

ticktockclock · 24/05/2010 19:11

Avad - I bet my butt and belly will tell you they are wrong...sooooo very wrong

jooseyfruit · 24/05/2010 19:13

mmmm yes greggs is the best.
I tried to make some at home with actual lard, and it just tasted too meaty, a bit too much like fried bread.

EdgarAllenPoll · 24/05/2010 19:20

cheap packet noodles.

i also love fray bentos pies, though they don't do a vegetarian one.

prolesworth that bavarian smoked cheese is yummy.

another vote for angel delight.

BafanaBafana · 24/05/2010 19:21

Mmmm I like that Bavarian smoked cheese, too. Buy it when I am pre-menstrual and have maniacal hunger pangs sometimes

pepperami - so very wrong

EdgarAllenPoll · 24/05/2010 19:24
