Every day ds get his packed lunch inspected by an 8 year old year 3 pupil who makes a list of how many healthy items are in his lunch, she inspects the whole class and makes a list for the teacher. God knows what the teacher does with this info, I need to find out.....

Today this was his lunch
REAL chicken breast sandwhich on a white roll
ASDA cheese dipper
Yoghurt
1 x Plum
Slice of swiss roll
Bottle of water.

It was deemed his plum and yoghurt were the only healthy items in his lunch.

FWIW his outdoor games teacher is about a size 24 and shouts orders whilst sitting on a bench. Is anyone inspectin her lunch?

Grrrrr.

so point proven a wonderfully healthy pack lunch provided that an 8 year old is completely incapable of assessing. Get that letter written and copied to the governers

Hullygully · 18/05/2010 21:24

But where was the hummus with pitta strips and carrot sticks? There seems to have been a terrible oversight.

onebadbaby · 18/05/2010 21:24

I sent my dd with sausage roll- am I a bad mother?? Also am a teacher and don't think school has the right to tell me what to feed my child. Luckily they havn't- are a v. chilled school.

Shaz10 · 18/05/2010 21:24

Don't forget the tiny pot of olives.

LostArtofKeepingASecret · 18/05/2010 21:25

I would be tempted to grade a school lunch and send your findings to the head. DD school have a thing about not sending anything chocolaty in a packed lunch, but have a great big chocolate pudding covered in chocolate custard on their menu.
I'm convinced its a conspiracy to get more children paying for school meals.

what lesson are dc learning when they police other dc's lunchboxes (which the dc most likely have not packed themselves anyway). It's abit creepy

compo · 18/05/2010 21:26

lol

and hummus and olives are full of fat

ZZZenAgain · 18/05/2010 21:26

wonder if you can bribe them

or disguise the food.

Hide smarties in a tub of natural yoghurt

islandofsodor · 18/05/2010 21:27

Hummus is actually quite fatty in the full fat version, its still healthy in my opinion but cheese is just as healthy and philadelphia type cheese healthier. And you can't get any more healthy than fresh chicken.

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 21:27

That lunch sounds great most dcs wouldn't eat a plum! Blimey I'd be steaming in all guns

DrNortherner · 18/05/2010 21:28

DS has never been a lunchbox insepctor. H definatley picks his nose though.

He picks his nose, not H! Although dh does actually, mostly whilst driving....

I would secure the lunchbox handles together with a cheap combination padlock.

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 21:31

Lunchbox inspectors? Never heard of them.

I was once on a school trip and nearly passed out at one of the kids lunches, choc mousse, twix, lollipops, neon pop and an uneaten bun She was a rather lethargic child for some reason

Ivykaty44 · 18/05/2010 21:31

put a note in the packed lunch to the spy child inspector asking if she has a food hygien certificate and if not to get out of the box as it could clostridium perfringens in it and she could make every other child sick if this bactria is spread by her hands.

seriously though does she wash her hands between each box inspection - cause if not I would have the dirty littel scoundrel cross contamination is a dangerous game

seeker · 18/05/2010 21:32

Are you absolutely sure about the 8 year old lunch box inspector? It does sound very far fetched indeed - apart from anything else it would take most 8 year olds of my acquaintance so long to write a list of the contents of 20 lunch boxes that lunch time would be long gone before he or she finished. Make sure of your facts before you go in all guns blazing!

I can't imagine the 8 year old writes a complete list of all the items in every dc's lunchbox because when would she have time to eat her own lunch? Maybe she notes the number of healthy items each to each dc's name

so Master Northerner - 2

ZZZenAgain · 18/05/2010 21:36

PMSL at whether she inspects her own lunchbox

ZZZenAgain · 18/05/2010 21:36

I think there should be at least 2 inspectors
