A MARROW - are they having a LAUGH? I thought this was just a comedy vegetable for flower shows.

Does anyone have a recipe involving marrow which is TASTY?

Anything which involves using the marrow as CONTAINER does not count.

Well, quite rightly so, then Tinker. In possession of an offensive vegetable.

Tinker · 29/07/2005 16:20

Ew, marmite and marrow on the same thread.

Marina · 29/07/2005 16:20

It's OK MP, the marrow conversation has been teetering on the tasteless for some time now. Like the marrow itself really.

Tinker · 29/07/2005 16:20

Tinker · 29/07/2005 16:21

Yes Marina, I was greeted by a large chap with a huge weapon this morning at Cannon Street - a sight for sore eyes....

morningpaper · 29/07/2005 16:21

Are you going to name and shame the box scheme that did this to you MP?

Freckle · 29/07/2005 16:22

Sorry, chaps, but I think the success of the marrow lies in the skill of the cook .

KBear · 29/07/2005 16:22

sorry, did I lower the tone?

Marina · 29/07/2005 16:23

I have to confess I was distracted by trying to cash in my free AMT voucher for an iced latte to start scoping the talent this particular morning.

My mum used to stuff marrows which was nice apart from the marrow bit. Bone marrow on the other hand is delicious. St John serve it on toast and it is seriously mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
This thread has made me especially Marina resorting to "Curry the f*cker" as her answer!

spidermama · 29/07/2005 16:31

I think they're a bit tasteless and I keep getting them in my box too. I just chop them small or grate them and hide them in sauces etc.

Dh insists they're lovely on their own steamed with butter put on at the end.

iota · 29/07/2005 16:43

have to say the only goood use of a marrow is stuffing it like this

Sponge · 29/07/2005 16:44

Wrap it in foil, send it back to organic box people and let them know that you will transfer your allegiance forthwith if they send you any more blotting paper masquerading as vegetable.

Sponge · 29/07/2005 16:45

I was holding my breath in case that was rude Iota!

friend of ours came round a couple of nights ago and brought us as a 'present' 7 (yes count them) marrows from his allotment. I mean..what the hell am I supposed to do with 7 marrows?
