I pretty much hate fruit too I just put loads of extra crumble on so I get lots of the topping and give DH the bit with all the fruit in!

Not sure if toffee might be a bit sickly though?

hackedoffandcross · 06/09/2009 15:35

Could you put some custard at the bottom?

dogofpoints · 06/09/2009 15:35

You hate all fruit? Really?

Just make a nice oaty crumble topping, roast a little of it and sprinkle it on ice cream.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 06/09/2009 15:36

Toffee crumble won't work.

Make something else for yourself.

cookielove · 06/09/2009 15:42

I suddenly get a craving for banoffee crumble, which I'm sure doesn't exist, but sounds good.

Veg crumble. Some nice seasonal veg, bit of tom juice or passatta; cheese, oats, nuts and/or herbs in crumble. Yum.

I have made in the past a yummy savory crumble with lamb underneath and wesleydale cheese in the crumble.

It's very good, but maybe not what you are hoping for.

How can you hate ALL fruit? It all tastes different you know

dogofpoints · 06/09/2009 20:55

Do you not even like strawberries, cookie?

Slubberdegullion · 06/09/2009 20:58

Or a nice cox apple?

Everyone likes a nice cox apple.

Georgimama · 06/09/2009 21:00

We had a lovely afternoon blackberrying and now I am going to go and have some of the resultant apple and blackberry crumble, cold with vanilla ice cream. Oh yum.

dogofpoints · 06/09/2009 21:49

Not even raspberries?

cookielove · 07/09/2009 19:53

no not strawberries and not rasberries, i made dp his apple crumble first ever and he liked it, and i made me crumble which i then sprinkled on custard which was yummy.

On a seperate note a work colleague keeps making me try fruit so the last couple of months i have started eating a teeny tiny bit

I came up with a non fruit crumble today as my LO doesn't like any fruit!
I had some left over chocolate ganache so I put that in the base of a small ramekin, then soaked some dates in water and a pinch of cinnamon for a couple of hours. I blitzed this to a paste. Layered this on top of the chocolate then added the crumble and cooked for 20 mins in 180 degree oven. It was absolutely delicious and worked a treat!

It sure exist and is the best ever crumble (a billion calories of banoffee goodness).

Basically cut banana into chunks, caramelise with some light brown sugar (they go soft and pulpy), make a toffee sauce (equal parts butter and brown sugar melted together, add double cream and a dash of whiskey). Put the banana in your crumble dish, pour over half the toffee sauce, top with crumble and bake. Serve with cream and toffee sauce. You’re welcome.

Youngest ds (29) has never liked fruit of any kind, however he loved 'apple' crumble - I just used to do the juice from stewing the apples under the crumble mix for him, he loved it Smile

Atichen · 05/01/2021 21:25

I'm resurrecting this thread with the hope that someone might have some non-fruit crumb ideas - another person who doesn't like any fruit here (or dates/raises etc)

Chasingsquirrels · 06/01/2021 19:30

My ds won't eat fruit crumbles, so I just put some crumble in a ramekin and bake it at the same time as our fruit crumble and he eats it as it is with evap (I'd chose cream, he can have what he wants).
I'd never thought of toffee! Now wondering about other things.
