I am stuck in a Special K rut!

Porridge with raisins and ground almonds. Sometimes also have a smoothie.

usedtoreadbooks · 29/04/2009 12:16

Am trying to resist carbs, so today I had fried halloumi with avocado, and tomato / onion salad. Often it's cold meat with cheese, eg ham and ricotta rolls; or egg-fried tofu with soy sauce; or smoked salmon and cream cheese; or bacon and eggs. Also two large mugs of tea.

humptyNdumpy · 29/04/2009 12:23

You're obv. a lot more motivated than me Lizzy

Lizzylou · 29/04/2009 14:33

No, humptyNdumpy, just need to shed a few lbs

foofi · 29/04/2009 14:34

Don't eat breakfast. Normally scoff something calorific around 11am though.

FrankMustard · 29/04/2009 14:35

raw oats or porridge with tinned prunes in juice, or mini weetabix which are a new joy to behold.

meltedmarsbars · 29/04/2009 14:36

Whats all this with oats and berries?!! I always thought oats were horse food.

Mind you, I do like brose in the winter

meltedmarsbars · 29/04/2009 14:37

tinned prunes !! That takes me back to my grannie!

bohemianbint · 29/04/2009 14:37

I generally have poached eggs on toast (or scrambled with rice cakes.) Stops me getting hungry and snacking later. Having said that I had porridge with fruit and honey today.

sfxmum · 29/04/2009 14:38

normally porridge and fruit, sometimes muesli occasionally poached eggs and bacon

I need breakfast

MrsMattie · 29/04/2009 14:39

Porridge with raisins, banana & honey

Fat free fromage frais (from Sainsbo's - yummy) w/ muesli & fruit (usually some combo of banana, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi or mango).

If I have anything other than one of the above I feel starving and in need of a kitkat by 10am. It's the combo of oats and something sweet that helps, I think.

FrankMustard · 29/04/2009 14:39

don't knock 'em til you've tried 'em melted! Tinned prunes in juice are yummy - so sweet!!!
They are also excellent as a butter replacement in chocolate brownie recipes and make them really moist!
And, no, I don't work for Del Monte...!

ThePellyandMe · 29/04/2009 14:40

I have toast with marmite and a cup of coffee everyday. The day hasn't started until I've had that.

I like smoothies but I tend to have them alongside breakfast I need to chew I think for my brain to register I've had breakfast.

bellavita · 29/04/2009 14:42

Porridge, toast, scrambled egg, all bran and skimmed milk with sliced banana. (obviously not all on the same day )

tonysoprano · 29/04/2009 14:43

I always have eggs or some kind of protein otherwise I am starving by 11. Oats always make me feel so bloated too. Poached eggs and bagel with marmite and an americano from my amazing work canteen.

lilacclaire · 29/04/2009 14:45

So healthy!
I skip breakfast and usually have a couple of rolls and fried things at my morning break then nothing until dinner time.
Im going to have a heart attack at 40 aren't I.

Bettymum · 29/04/2009 14:46

I have a few prunes every morning on my muesli (or porridge at the weekend). They are delicious, DD loves them too.

meltedmarsbars · 29/04/2009 14:46

FrankMustard, Do you have the brownie recipe? We love brownies here.

sfxmum · 29/04/2009 14:49

yes prunes are good although dh permanently refers to it as pooing food
works for me, as it were

bellavita · 29/04/2009 14:54

meltedmarsbars - haven't seen you around for a while?

meltedmarsbars · 29/04/2009 14:57

Been weaning myself off.....still stalk these pages sometimes.....must go do something useful....

bellavita · 29/04/2009 15:00
Thunderduck · 29/04/2009 18:41

Nothing. I don't know how people can eat in the morning.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 29/04/2009 18:43

Porridge with fruit puree mixed in (i whizz different fruits up and keep them frozen in in ice cube trays then stir them into the hot porridge on thee hob)

Or

Just chopped up different fruits with homemade natural yoghurt and a squeeze of honey.

It well worth the time and effort in the morning IMO.

On Sunday we have a cooked breakfast, Bacon and Eggs with the works.

ClaudiaJean · 29/04/2009 20:33

Thank you ladies I am duly inspired to make more of an effort

Special K seems to have been getting bad press today so I will have to be a bit more imaginative!
