Madreinglese has a yummy basic recipe that she says is lush - you need her.

My ds won't do casseroles either!

muggglewump · 30/08/2008 18:43

I don't have a FE but I put in whatever's around really. Onions, mushrooms, peppers, carrots, beans, anything goes with a tin of toms.
You could blend the sauce if they don't like the bits?

Well you don't needs a casserole recipe!

Will he eat toms?

ThatBigGermanPrison · 30/08/2008 18:47

Sausages (no herbs, no lumps, smooth ones.)
Passata (again, no lumps, no green)
Grated carrot
An oxo cube.

a BIT of pepper if you think you'll get away with it.

You can serve this with pasta, if pasta is acceptable.

WigWamBam · 30/08/2008 18:48

Dd is a fussy eater, but she likes sausage casserole. I do it like a hotpot - she likes the layers of soft potatoes in the middle, and the crunchy ones on the top.

She won't eat it with tomatoes in it but a tin of baked beans slung in always goes down well. Carrots, green beans and mushrooms, because they are pretty much the only veg she will eat. Any veg he will eat will do ... presuming he will eat at least some veg.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 30/08/2008 18:50

V simply then sausages, chopped tomatoes and baked beans works well together. Kids eat it here!
Start ading finely chopped carrot and other stuff when they are use to that?
Best thing about the start of autumn, sausage casserole! (i am easily pleased!)

wigwam a chil who eats carrotts, mushrooms and green beans is NOT a fussy eater!!

I'd artwheel around the kitchen if my ds ate 1 of those things

DrNortherner · 30/08/2008 18:57

Whats an artwheel?

slim22 · 30/08/2008 18:58

you cook add onion carrot and courgette in passata then blend sauce before serving. he'll never knoe there were any veg, involved.

Chocolateteapot · 30/08/2008 19:01

I've found that for spag bol, (the only thing in sauce my DD will eat)that I can get away with sticking onion, garlic, courgette & a bit of carrot and sometimes some apple, in a food processor with a tin of tomatoes or passata. You can whizz it fine enough for it just to look like a plain tomato sauce once cooked.

use shallots - you can remove them whole and don't have to faff with chopping

Feenie · 30/08/2008 19:15

Omg, wrong thread!

fishie · 30/08/2008 19:17

or you can whizz carrot and onion together, celery too if you are daring. once meat and other ingredients are in it is invisible. really bulks mince out a lot too.

But Northerner ... she eats eff all else!

The only meat she will eat is sausage ... I rely very heavily on sausage casserole.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 30/08/2008 20:35

soooo

get your blender out as if you were doing baby puree..
blitz a carrot onion together till a paste.
fry off sausages
put paste and sausages in pan with passatta and half a teaspoon of sugar
serve with pasta or rice or couscous or potato

if your littleone eats baked beans put a tin of baked beans in and say that it is cowboy food

jollydiane · 30/08/2008 20:36

My secret weapon is a large blob of Pesto.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 30/08/2008 20:36

meant to add once it is cowboy food serve with big chunk of bread.
