We are having cheesy footballs first to nibble, then prawn cocktail for a starter, pavlova and black forest gateaux for dessert.......but I am stuck on the main course.

Something en croute?

Great minds think alike Mrsflowerpot and Merlin.

Potty1 · 15/02/2005 18:13

Steak a la Berni Inn.

And blue nun/libfraumilch to drink. Or a 'party can' do you remember those?

Froot - meant to say when I saw your menu that's what I would dish up for a dinner party anyway - seventies??!!!!

bettys · 15/02/2005 18:21

Duck a l'orange
Coq au vin
Steak au poivre
Chicken Kiev
Sounds rather nice!

Cam · 15/02/2005 18:22

spaghetti bolognaise

Lonelymum · 15/02/2005 18:31

Prawn cocktail to start.
Coq au vin for main course.
Black forest gateau for pud.

marthamoo · 15/02/2005 18:32

Found this via google.

And this is American but maybe worth a look?

snafu · 15/02/2005 18:35

Oh, fondue, definitely! So seventies, really easy to do and fun to eat.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 15/02/2005 18:38

Fondue - yum yum yum yum .

I used to go to a little German restaurant in Henley (sadly now closed) and their speciality was fondues - drool drool!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 15/02/2005 18:39

Are you all going to dress up a la "Abigail's Party" ?

morningpaper · 15/02/2005 18:39

You need a large bowl for everyone's car keys...

and a sauna in the garden.

snafu · 15/02/2005 18:40

Oh, yes! And don't forget to play Demis Roussos!

morningpaper · 15/02/2005 18:41

"Gin and toniiic?"

Kayleigh · 15/02/2005 18:42

You need pineapple and cheese on sticks stuck in a grapefruit to go with your aperatifs

And some Angel Delight for dessert. Oh, I want to have one now.

marthamoo · 15/02/2005 19:06

I was just thinking that - me too!

froot · 15/02/2005 19:08

Yes flares compulsory! Forgot all about cheese and pineapple. Will do that too. Have got eight coming so fondue might be a bit tricky for that many - would be great for 4 though! Have got an old cassette tape of grease somewhere I am going to dig out.

Was thinking of Babysham as an aperotif or campari and soda??

Merlin you are so retro chic!!

Cam, I wanted spag bol but dh said not dinner partyish enough (methinks I feed him too well.)

Hmmmm car key suggestion a bit tooooooo frooty!! No sauna sadly but I have got an old paddling pool I could fill up with water from the kettle!!

Has anyone made beef bourginion?? Am worried aboout meat being tough. What should I buy if I do that?
