I think they taste like some sort of animal droppings but apparently they are very good for you.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2008 17:29

they look like orange droppings,I must say, but taste ?

NoBiggy · 05/07/2008 17:29

I think it was here that I read that they taste like poisoned raisins.

With that in mind i've never bought any!

Guadalupe · 05/07/2008 17:39

not that I've tasted droppings of course, but I think I spat out my muesli and said something along the lines of 'that tastes like goat's shit' which was the best thing I could think of to describe something revolting.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2008 18:05

someone must've tasted them though !

Scampmum · 05/07/2008 18:11

rough as old boots

Wassup · 05/07/2008 18:12

no

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2008 18:18

oh dear, ds is very keen to have them - don't want to spend nearly £3 if they are foul

OP posts:
CoolYourJets · 05/07/2008 18:19

They are foul. I have a bag minus 3 in the kitchen. I should just give them to the birds.

Wassup · 05/07/2008 18:19

you have to get them I reckon. Better to let him try and decide himself what he thinks.

Judy1234 · 05/07/2008 18:32

Someone bought me some on a date actually, which was an interesting present. I did eat them and the children tried them too. I didn't feel they were anything particularly special. Don't taste as nice as blueberries which are one of my favourite foods.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2008 18:36

oh I know I'll have to get them ( or he will with his pocket money) just so we can get it out of the way ! he might like them as he is fond of odd things- green tea, whole lemons etc

3Ddonut · 05/07/2008 18:39

they are foul, sorry, and quite a strong, bitter? taste, I heard that you can soak them to plump them up a bit, which might be better.... or mix them in yogurt or something...

plumandolive · 06/07/2008 17:07

Oh well I think they're quite nice; and considering how good they are for you...my kids hate them though, they're dry.

WideWebWitch · 06/07/2008 17:07

I think they're disgusting, they taste as I would imagine the bottom of a hamster's cage to taste.

lazarou · 06/07/2008 17:08

They are too bitter for me

forevercleaning · 06/07/2008 17:12

i have them quite a bit, and you get used to the taste. They have a bitterness but are quite nice. They were on offer at tescos so you could try them for just over a quid.

forevercleaning · 06/07/2008 17:12

Just re-read your post. DS won't like them I dont think.

aDad · 06/07/2008 17:15

the first one is fine, and then you get an unpleasant aftertaste, and really dont want any more.

Then the bag sits in your fridge for 3 months.
Then you throw it out.

mamalovesmojitos · 06/07/2008 17:48

they are gross. i found a bag that was gone-off in my cupboard a few weeks ago. couldn't eat them. waste of ten, yes TEN, euro.

NotQuiteCockney · 06/07/2008 17:50

Lots of tannin in them, I think? Not very nice.

RTKangaMummy · 06/07/2008 17:53

aDAD I agree
I got some and the 1st one is ok but then afterwards they are horrible

but i mixed up some with nuts and raiins and bolueberries and ineapple stuff and seeds etc and then ok

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/07/2008 22:30

thanks all, it's his money I suppose,so if he really wants them ! he will suck bits of lime so he likes bitter tart stuff

OP posts:
bran · 06/07/2008 22:33

They are horrible, very bitter and nasty. Even dh who eats all sorts of odd asian dried and preserved fruit stuff didn't like them.
