Does anyone else love extreme spicy food?
my go to is a phal, i can demolish one in about 8mins. The worst it impacts me is a runny nose but I find the dish itself isnt hot enough even though I specifically ask.

I am looking for something hotter, does anyone know of any dishes in the UK that are substantially hotter than a phal?? Nandos extra extra hot isnt hot enough either!

Im not sure if anyone else can manage the extreme spice like myself or if im just slightly abnormal.

I love hot spicy food. I pour tabasco or hsake chilli seeds onto almost every dish. DH has given up telling me to try and appreciate the subtle flavours first.

I think Nigel Slater researched that for some people, chillies release a happy hormone. Definitely does for me.

I remember yrs ago the beacon of truth FHM ran an article on legal highs and consumption of chillies was the number one. Trust Nigel to know too 😂

ps Home bargains currently has a Tabasco sauce gift set . I’d never had the habanero one it’s very good also original jalapeño and chipotle think it’s a fiver x

Thai food is HOT!

and yes, as PP mentioned, the Nando’s Vusa sauce is the one you need.

Have you got a ‘lucky Bs’ near you? We visited one on a weekend away and you had to sign a waver for their hottest chicken, and had to wear special gloves 😂it’s not a curry but you’d probably enjoy it.

Nandos Vusa sauce is limited edition so not always available but it will probably come back. There's a hot curry challenge at Bengal Village on brick lane, haven't tried it but have seen videos of others trying it.

Another shout for Thai food.

Hottest dish I have had was a jungle curry which was using peppercorns like a vegetable so hot but also delicious.

We have a local Chinese supermarket, and they sell the whole Mae ploy brand of curry paste (yellow, Green, Red, Masman and Panang) I think they now have a selection in the world foods in Tesco,

The Green curry at 40g of paste is really hot but you could try 50g or 60g if you want it eye watering. This has been one of my favourite thread’s thanks Op x.

If you can get to London, try Lucky’s fried chicken at Seven Dials Market.

I can manage hot food but don’t just want chilli heat, I like to taste the flavours too. Anyway I chose “hot” on the spice scale. The lady warned me and said it really was hot. The chicken tasted amazing but omg it made my mouth burn and definitely don’t rub your eyes without washing your hands 😂

And if “hot” isn’t hot enough for you, there’s also “XXX” and “Good Luck” for those that are really brave.

My DH is like you, I make pizza every few weeks and he generally puts 10 scotch bonnet chillies on it, chilli flakes in the dough and sometimes a big glue of scorpion tabasco as a garnish. When we have an curry, he always gets a phal and asks the waiter to make it extra spicy. It's like we're a freak show at our local Indian as the chef is fascinated with him 😆.

But, I have a question- I'm convinced his taste buds are wired up wrong. If I make soup, I can't put carrots in it or he'll 'accuse' me of lacing it with sugar. He is ridiculously sensitive to anything vaguely sweet. Won't even eat a rich tea biscuit, never has cake, sweeties or puddings etc. Never in 25 years of marriage has he ordered a dessert.

Also can't cope with tannin, so tea is off limits and red wine treated like poison.

Are you the same with sweet stuff and tea etc?

I think mine are similar. I can eat really hot things and not feel impacted. When others try my food it overwhelms them . I do have a sweet tooth, and wine to me is disgusting. Im pretty sure my receptors dont work normally. Iv looked at chili eating contests out of curiosity!
