Anyone else enjoy very spicy food and know hotter dishes?

Does anyone else love extreme spicy food?
my go to is a phal, i can demolish one in about 8mins. The worst it impacts me is a runny nose but I find the dish itself isnt hot enough even though I specifically ask.

I am looking for something hotter, does anyone know of any dishes in the UK that are substantially hotter than a phal?? Nandos extra extra hot isnt hot enough either!

Im not sure if anyone else can manage the extreme spice like myself or if im just slightly abnormal.

I find the Nandos hot hotter than the extra as the extra is habanero which I like but find sweeter, the hot is cayenne I think. The hottest in my opinion is the vuso .

Do you want to eat out or make at home or both?

Which nationalities have you tried

What nationality are you? I am white British I ask for apna style in a Pakistani restaurant that’s home style which is usually hot especially the biryani

I can naturally eat very hot food but choose to eat just below my spice level. I come in handy when someone orders over theirs and can swap lol

Could you add your own chillies
Ghost
Carolina reaper
Scotch bonnet.
Should add not all 3at the same time
💥
Hopefully you get suggestions that compliment flavours and not just heat.

Curry goat, Naga chillis. Pepper stew. Do you mean heat or flavour? Dhal isn't very hot / spicy as a general rule

PeasePuddingPottage · 17/09/2026 20:07

Sechuan pepper dishes 🙂 can't spell. Chilli oil. Pad kra pow holy basil has a kick.

bababamama · 17/09/2026 20:22

I cook my own food as I find shop spicy food is spice without flavour. I cook a lot of South Indian and Sri Lankan food which can be pretty spicy but also has lots of different flavours as well

There are a surprising amount of high end chili sauce and mixes in TK Max of all places. Bought a reaper sauce from there and it was incredibly strong could only use it in dishes far to hot for a condiment 🔥

In my teens/early 20's, I couldn't even stand a mild salsa, but over the years after travelling/cooking and trying foods, I've built up a tolerance to chilli too. I grow my own chillis and cook a fair amount of Thai food along with South India/Sri lankan. These recipes can be adjusted to using hotter chillis if wanted

The vuso sauce is I think directly marketed towards the African taste it’s hot and has oil in it. I don’t know if it’s a Nandos thing or a genuine African sauce. Of all the ethnic food I’ve eaten there isn’t much African around me but that’s hopefully changing.

@Spicysenorita

One of my absolute favourites is Nihari . Traditionally served on Sunday in the local Pakistani cafe here in the north west uk. They will definitely have it in LDN.

Hot but not searingly hot. Like a thick lamb soup eaten with roti and has fresh ginger and green chilli as an extra topping. I think you’d love it . You definitely get the euphoric after glow.

I know you wanted take out /dine out but if you’re spice level is high try Laziza sauces and packets mixes from the Asian supermarket. I think the locals call it Zeeka . It’s the only thing I’ve found that tastes like the caffès.

WillieBanjo · 17/09/2026 21:33

Regarding apna it means home style so if you maybe live in a predominately white area local takeaways may have adapted their food to the area. Apna lets them know you want it straight out of Islamabad .

If you’re ever in Manchester the recommendations will be for the curry mile or mowgli .I think you would like the rice and three cafes and the belts and braces of Cheetham Hill 🫡

@Spicysenoritamy bad! Dyslexia 😂.

PeasePuddingPottage · 17/09/2026 22:51

@flixbusdyslexia strikes! I love any type of dhal so my brain 🧠 automatically read it!

CherryKerry · 17/09/2026 22:53

Scorpion Chilli Tabasco sauce is pretty much as hot as it gets. Buy it from Amazon.

SuperGinger · 17/09/2026 22:56

Not sure if you are in London but I love Sambal Shiok on Holloway Road, they do a really spicy Laksa which is delicious and hot.

ThreeArmBandit · 17/09/2026 22:59

You want authentic Szeuchan food.

A Sri Lankan friend cooked us the most hot and spicy dishes I’ve ever esten, from any cuisine. I love spicy food and this was just on the pain/pleasure cusp, and delicious.

I love hot spicy food. I pour tabasco or hsake chilli seeds onto almost every dish. DH has given up telling me to try and appreciate the subtle flavours first.

I think Nigel Slater researched that for some people, chillies release a happy hormone. Definitely does for me.

Just check and yep I'm gutted about sambal shiok, it was so good.
