I have a bread maker for bread.

You really don't make any cakes in your lovely mixer?

i've always wanted a red artisian kitchen aid mixer. it's been my fantasy since i got engaged.... but it looks like i'll never get one. enjoy your mixers ladies.

do you want the recipe for banana cheesecake? it's the first thing i'm going to make if i ever get one.

Love2bake · 28/06/2008 10:48

Yes please.....cheesecake is my favorite pud, yum.

I was actually dreaming of a pink artisan to match my kitchen, but they are so expensive (about £349.00). I realised I was never going to get it, so I have the white classic coming from Amazon, at a more affordable £149.

er, that'll be a yes to the cheesecake recipe please.

ScotsBird · 28/06/2008 14:47

Hi l2b - I am a proud KitchenAid owner (dark matt grey to match my kitchen tilework!)and I just wanted to say "congratulations on your new KitchenAid" - I seriously get a warm feeling in my tummy when I look at it, and by god it makes a STUPENDOUS victoria sponge mix. Just make sure that you do the necessary adjusting to the little screw bit at the top so that the beater gets right to the bottom of the bowl. Enjoy.

PS Cheesecake recipe - another request.

anytime love2bake ... anyone have a good pineapple upside down recipe?

ivykaty44 · 28/06/2008 20:42

Ok - so what is a kitchenaid mixer?

ranting · 28/06/2008 20:46

I'm a Kenwood Chef woman myself but, Nigella's chocolate lime cheesecake whips up just nicely in it, I find.

curlywurlycremeegg · 28/06/2008 20:49

ohhh I love my kitchenaid, I got an ice blue artisan....i bought it with some money my gran left for me, so it was a splurge but also a lovely way to remember all the baking we did together when I was little

ivykaty44 · 28/06/2008 20:50

Ahh I know Kenwood

ranting · 28/06/2008 20:52

A kitchen aid is the same sort of thing but with a retro styling slant.

are you a kenwood chef woman too?

ivykaty44 · 28/06/2008 20:56

I was - my mum left me one, but it eventually gave up. Now I have a new fangdangled thingy that wizzes. It does the jb and I am more than happy with the food I produce from my wixzzy thingy.

I make fariy cake, banana loaf and deliahs lemon surprise pudding with whipped egg whites in - lovely pools of lemoney sauce appear from nowhere [yummy emotion]

ranting · 28/06/2008 21:01

That sounds blardy lovely, has to be said.

ivykaty44 · 28/06/2008 21:14

ranting - it is in two books -526p and i her winter one I think with lemon orange and lime.

Jamie naked man does one but god does he make it complecated for the same result.

I make this in the wizzy woo - double all the ingrediants and use the electric hand whisk to whipp up the egg whites. The pour into measuring jugs half and half. Put half in the oven and cook and havlf in the fridge for three days time when you want / need this pudding again.

ranting · 28/06/2008 21:17

I must admit, I use mine for fruit cakes and cheesecakes and the like but that lemon pudding looks yum. Have found it btw.

dreambaby · 29/06/2008 02:49

I use mine almost exclusively for making cookies at Christmas-time since it's the only one I know of that can handle such thick dough. What is a Kenwood? Anyone have a link so I can see one?

SquiffyHock · 29/06/2008 07:22

I have been debating getting one but am not sure - why would it be better than my (very old) handheld mixer?

Love2bake · 29/06/2008 08:10

SH - because it looks like this!!!

here

SquiffyHock · 29/06/2008 18:19

Mmm. Very tempting!

Scootergrrrl · 30/06/2008 14:28

If you send back the guarantee card you get a Kitchenaid cookbook. Some of the recipes are great and some are blatantly easier without a mixer!
I make lots of bread and stuff in mine, nan bread and pizza bases particularly good.
You can also make good mayonnaise with the wire whip.
Enjoy!

PS: What colour are you getting?

ComeOVeneer · 30/06/2008 14:32

Father christmas is bringing me a Kitchenaid mixer Can't wait. I did try to persuade dh to buy it for me earlier as it would eally help with my business, but...

Scootergrrrl · 30/06/2008 14:41

But the prices will go up at Christmas... much cheaper in the summer sales
Look - super cheap!
