Hello
I was on the phone and wasn't concentrating properly.

Recipe needs
210g s-r flour
90g plain

At the moment there is 210g of plain in the magimix with the butter sugar and eggs so am reluctant to chuck it out.
Haven't added any SR yet. Will add 90g to start off with but can I just add some baking powder or bicarb to help with the raising part?

ANy advice anyone?

Stick a teaspoon of baking powder in: should be fine!

Make your own self-rising flour: Using a dry measure, measure the desired amount of plain flour into a container. For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix to combine.

Written in American but you get the gist....

My recipe for apple cake which I cook pretty regularly says 200g SR flour OR plain flour plus 3 tsp baking powder. I rarely bother buying SR flour to be honest. So if you add 90g SR flour to your mix I would suggest 2tsp baking powder as well.

Don't use bicarb though (unless that's all you have) as in my experience it leaves a funny taste that's hard to mask.

I often do this when I run out of SF flour. Just add some baking powder and it will be fine.

Add the baking powder! At least you didn't use strong bread making flour Well the bag is the same colour!
